Throw all the 'man ups' at me you like but i HATE it.

I dont sit ona plane and scream or anything like that but every second is like pulling my teeth out for me.

Im getting married in 6 weeks and the other half is determined to get me on a plane again (went to Switzerland last year skiing and that was enough lol) but I cant help but feel we should hop on a cruise to the mediterranean for two weeks rather than ruin the wedding for me - ill be nervous about the flight for the whole thing.

I would compromise on that point and perhaps grow a pair for next year.

I appreciate its pretty stupid to be scared of flying but if there are other people like me that have any tips then they would be appreciated. I need to make a decision pretty soon and I dont want to keep the girly waiting.

The risk is low, although I understand your fear what doesn't help though is thinking about it all the time. Try to think about the destination not the flight. If it's that bad you could consider asking your doctor for some low level sedation like beta blockers.

Only way to overcome your fear is to face it :) I used to be afraid of heights until I did a bungee jump :)

watch snakes on a plane, joke, or just look up some stats, more people die on roads..

so pointless living your life thinking you're going to die.. people die everyday on roads, they dont on planes

Firstly the fear of flying is rarely the fear of crashing, I have a fear of flying but not once have I thought OMG we're gonna crash and die!

Secondly you'll be so nervous abut the wedding its self that you'll forget about the flying until the wedding is over.

Thirdly go to your doctor and tell them, get some diazepam - its good stuff :D (got me 13 hours to thailand and back - 6 flights in total)

I went on a Virgin-sponsored fear of flying course - only one day long but it genuinely helped. That and I get drugs off the doctor.

We-e-e-e-ell.....

Nope. Still gonna go with 'man the **** up'. Hell, just treat them how I do - fall asleep about three words into the cabin crew briefing you about how to operate a seat belt (I mean, really? People need to be told how to buckle up?) and don't wake up until the wheels touch down again.

Flying is so horrendously boring that I sometimes envy folks who are scared by it :o

I'm not a huge fan of flying but it's the only way to get to some
amazing places and the thought missing out on being able to see these places is worse than the fear of actually flying. Also the drugs and alcohol help

I used to be very afraid of flying when I was a little younger. I've since flown more often and gotten a lot more used to it. I'm now hardly worried at all.

I also fly in Flight Simulator X, and I wonder if this may have helped. Can't say for sure, but I guess knowing how a plane works makes me a little more calm :p
