****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Yeah the bigger problem this was trying to combat was the whole heap of crap that became the menu system. Different styles, colours, et al, if there is at least one direct theme that can be called (in this case holo) then the L&F of the device will be consistent across all handsets. While I doubt Google will force the issue, I feel this is the first step towards a more common design in high end android handsets while at the same time allowing the manus to have some freedom to retain their required differentiators.

Going back to CheckRom now instead of CM9. Whilst it's very good for an Alpha/Pre Alpha.. it's got some serious battery drain. Went to a lecture this morning and didn't even use my phone, it's down to 85%.

No, just change security to one the TP supports although it worked fine with WPA on my touchpad.

What's the best version of Checkrom to use? I'm yet to root, and install a customer rom on my S2 but feeling the need to!

When is the official ICS update supposed to appear for the Galaxy S2? I don't mind waiting a couple of months.

Myshra's 'guess' is probably correct as Samsung have now officially stated that the Galaxy S2 will make the jump to ICS in the first quarter of 2012. ... which of course means by the end of March! :)

I don't like the percentage marker for the battery in checkrom. How can I change it back to the stock gingerbread battery icon?

You'll need to flash a new theme. Flash the stock theme from KitchenPro or one of the other battery icons.

last time I tried flashing the stock battery.zip from Kitchen Pro it wouldn't boot and I had to re-flash checkrom, was hoping there was another method.

is there a stock looking theme that you know of?

Yeah the one in the KitchenPro :p

If you download the flashable zip via it and choose not to flash it but then instead flash it via CWM Recovery, that should work fine. The downloads
are stored on internal mem anyway.

Edit*
It appears that 5 immediate family members and cousins now have the GSII based on them playing on mine o.0

Usually you can't get them to spend money on a decent phone but somehow....they have :D

Just adding my 2 cents here but can't help but feel that MIUI is a fantastic rom, easily get 2 days usage out of it with medium usage.

With minimal usage (Few texts, emails, webpages, phone call or 2)

Which one are you using?

I'm getting great battery life from CM9 actually, been very impressed. SwitchPro has helped me lengthen the life quite a bit. The next step might be turning on and off functions on a schedule or based on location (tasker?). I can get over 2 days now on a standard battery with my usage patterns, which means I'm a happy bunny. Identical or better than Samsung's KI4 that I was using before.
