VRAM != RAM. The page file is only used when your machine runs out of physical ram. Turning off the page file will only ensure you have errors when/if you do run out of memory. It will do nothing to speed up your system.

I.e. you are only causing yourself problems by turning it off.

I've got all the COH games on steam. Not played them for a while though. Is multiplayer still popular for Coh? It was a cool game back in the day.

I don't know too much about it :p

But...

That sounds about right. That would explain why when i only had 8gb i was getting slowdowns as it was storing video memory in the page file.
 
Nvidia use 2GB ram in their 'Way it should be played' settings for BF3 even with a GTX580:

Hardware configuration: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580, Intel Core i7 970 (3207Mhz), 2 Gb RAM
Software configuration: NVIDIA 280.26 Driver, Battlefield 3, Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit

I've been trying to get my copy to work with Eastern Front mod for the past few days :p

Tbh I don't know about the multiplayer as i've never checked it out as of yet :(

Also it is still a cool game! Freaking awesome infact :D

Ah i never tried any of the mods. It was a cool online game to play with friends though on voice chat. Thta used to really stretch my pc at the time, it was kinda like battlefield 3 in that regard. It was a while before i could max out the settings.

Yeah, shame none of my friends have a PC or are interested in RTS's :(

Still a very good looking game though IMO, when you can zoom in etc. Plus the destruction/dismemberment are pretty nice :D

graphics video > main memory > disk pagefile.
If it ever gets to the disk then its terrible, I used to play BF2 with 512meg and you dont ever want pagefile in use during a live game. It can work ok in single player but Ive not used any pagefile in years because most of my drives are so slow.
I would rather it just crash and put me out of my misery if its that low on memory :D Also I alt tab a lot so having windows in memory all the time is needed, I dont like it getting put onto disk.
SSD is a great cureall if fed up of trying to track down a problem

Does BF3 work ok on Win 8 ?

Agreed. I heard that one of the games main producers got killed in a road accident by a drunk driver. Sounds like a shame and i think put to rest any chances of another coh being made.

It is a bit fiddly to get going but not impossible - you need to select the correct root for your CoH install in the EF mods launcher (or installer can't remember)!

Good fun as it adds quite a lot of new stuff to the game but to be honest the rusky tanks are pants - even their best tank can be pretty easily outplayed!

I do like their AT though which can embed itself much like the British tanks can when you're using one of the tech trees.
 
Yeah I had to update they game with every individual update, but it is finally working, awesome mod! :D

Just finished a match which was quite epic. 1v1 and took all the points before full on assaulting their base for the last 5 mins for the lulz :p

Shame to hear about the producer :( But in better news I ordered the 2 expansion packs which are coming before Friday :D:D

Edit: Also the British and Panzer Elite whatever are locked for me? Is that normal?

Best game ever, imo if it wasnt maligned with Brit blobs and Arty Spam:/

PE and Brits are part of the expansion pack...Opposing forces. Bormal COH is just US vs Wehr.

You can buy tales of Valour which includes them all and is only about 4 patches away from being relevantm and if your lucky u can buy it for like £3.99 or something.

Yeh dont go onto {SAS}Beer Drinkers server.

Playing Rush and we were about to win so the admin turned all the damage off and then lowered our tickets to 1 and we lost.....
