Yup I would say assault too. Lots of kills, lots of heals, lots of revives.

I am playing around with the AEK-971 at the mo and it's the first gun that I actually prefer the ironsights on rather than the RDS / HOLO etc. Am I correct in thinking that it is faster to aim without attached sights? I seem to be winning more 1v1's since I ditched them. Always use foregrip but I am playing around with the 3rd attachment. I like the suppressor but I think I prefer the sound so I may laser sight it for the hip-fire. Barrel is also an option but I dunno yet if I feel any benefit from it.

because they were on a different team, and couldn't swap because the server was full most likely.

This. 4 of us joined originally. It split us up straight away and we couldn't swap teams so we decided to wait till we could. The other 2 then joined and got put straight in the other squad.
Getting split up is quite possibly the most annoying thing in this game. I've found it's better for just a couple to start a game and then any other people join session in progress.

How do I customise the Russain soldier in the "my soldier section", only can find acess to the Marine solders side.
You can't. Loads of people have asked for it to be sorted but Dice have so far done nothing about it and can't even give a straight answer as to when,if ever,it will be sorted.

Played a few games last night(in a full squad with friends this time  ) and we joined a few different lobbies and every single one of them there were only us capturing the points. I actually wish they'd remove vehicles from this game as most of the time people just rush for them at the start and then do sod all else

that happens in most lobby's i join TBH

the other day, our squad were chasing down the enemy as a gang of 4 EOD bots trying to zap them, but the other 8 people on our team couldnt even hold one flag.

After a few games we had to play as normal so the match lasted a decent length of time...

I'd love them to bring back some of the oldies. Harvest Day was awsome!

Hell, I wouldn't mind the maps we have now with different lighting. I quite like T.Highway because of the night time feel. I'd love to be able to play all maps day/night/sunset/sunrise.

If I am solo I tend to go into the games and have a look at the open squads. I check their classes and sometimes, if the game has been going on a while, their personal scores. Only then do I pick my squad. If the squad is not contributing I leave it to look for another. Sometimes I can find decent squads but mostly I just end up rambo frantically running from one CP to another. If I stay and defend, the map will usually be lost because no one else is capping and holding. So for this I am almost always on the move.

You have to squad with friends to get the full enjoyment from the game but I quite like to rambo, too.

BC2 was no different, really. Too many snipers looking for heads to pop and not understanding and/or not giving a **** about the concept of Conquest or Rush. That isn't all of it, of course, but it's a big part of why the rest of us have to run around like headless chickens trying to win the round!

My advise would be to add people in the OCUK platoon and play with them, had some superb games and teamwork really does make this game more enjoyable.

my psn: ashrobbo88 anybody feel free to add me and we can get some games going :)

So I got this the other day, and it's great fun, but I'm not a big fan of how over-done the unlock system is. Fair enough, I can understand the game throwing you some extra weapons/scopes as encouragement for playing, but some of the stuff feels like it should be yours from the start. The assault class not getting the defrib as standard, for instance.

And the jets are just ridiculous though. The only way to get missiles is to kill with your ridiculously hard-to-aim machine gun? Whilst getting attacked by enemy fighters that already have said missiles? Oh yeah, and of course, you don't even get counter-measures by default, so you're basically ****ed. I really want to get the hang of flying in this game, but I'm basically a sitting duck every time I go up, and it feels like a joke.

At least in the helis you can tag along, man the gun, or repair from the outside seats. The planes seem to be an impossible brick wall of levelling.

It is difficult initially, once you unlock said missiles and flares all is well. I dont actually use the missiles anymore, i tend to use machine gun + rockets for ground.

You do get used to using the machine gun and leading the target, switching between first and third person is your friend in a jet :)

I have service star 3 for jets and my load out is stealth, flares and rocket pods I think. All are early unlocks. I play mainly rush. Machine gun is great because the jets can't see you coming ;). Even with beam scanning and heat seekers I found taking down jets hard because as soon they hear the lock on noise they take evasive action. It's a lot better to get close then unleash the machine gun on them. One tip I can give you is that switching between views can help a lot in a dog fight. All you really need is flares to be effective in a jet which is what a 600 point unlock if that?

It might just be the fact that the people killing you are just simply better pilots. ;)

Only 300 points for flares!

Saying that I still don't have them :D Scraping up point by point...must be 283/300 now. Still I'm finding it quite funny that its such a challenge, but am getting better and managed to avoid a few missiles even without flares.

Question for our American friends. are you taught in school that your K/D record being good is the ultimate life goal?

or

are these idiots on EA/BF3 forums just got that typical must be-arogant-anti british-we rule everything syndrome?

just wondering, would be nice to know.

or is there some competition to win somthing worthwhile for getting a good K/D? other than that, i cant see why it would matter.

Oh, they no doubt are, but that's kind of my point. Their ability is massively helped by the fact they have all these tools on their side too. If I could get to flares, I would at least have the knowledge that as soon as I hear the beeps of something locking on, I don't have to immediately start weaving and banking like a madman to evade. I get to that point, and then I might be able to actually improve.

With helis, there's plenty you can do in them to get points without necessarily killing anything. Jets, not so much.

Again, my complaint isn't about whether I'm a good pilot or not, it's the unlock system, and how I think there's too much to it. If all the infantry started with pistols, and had to unlock rifles to get anywhere, you'd have a similar nasty learning curve. I think it's bad design, personally.

Past few nights I have been unable to join any servers that are hosted in the UK. Says I need to check my network connection. My PS3 is in the DMZ so it shouldn't be a ports issue.

As someone pointed out it's 300 points to unlock flares for jets. My opinion is to play rush as I think jets are pretty much useless in conquest in a team role. Fly low during take off and take out the enemy's tanks. Rush Caspian or Firestorm is excellent for this. 1 tank disable is 100 points and a 2 crew tank will yield you your 300 points which is dead easy to do.

Most of the top tier jet stuff is rubbish. Air to surface missiles are incredibly weak for example. Most of the good stuff are the early unlocks.
