****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

You need to flash the PDA, and if you have them in the package, PHONE and CSC as well, otherwise it won't work. The instructions are in the thread I linked. Just flashing a kernel won't fix it.

Thanks very much for all your help. Im back on now with a stock rom... gonna leave it as is for a few days and then maybe try my luck again now i know how to fix it should it go pear-shaped.

Once again, many thanks!

We've all been there at one time, don't let it deter you too much! CM7 isn't to be taken too lightly though, it sometimes does things for no reason, such as the error you experienced. I have had that error too, it's not documented much and the usual response is 'try again' or 'start from scratch', so we don't really know why it happens, and nobody is really that bothered as it can be sorted and with CM on Samsung devices you really tend to get what you're given. Often that isn't a stable release, usually because Samsung don't release their sources.

Just root the Samsung one and uninstall the "crap" using Titanium or freeze them. Simples. The only crap though really are the various Samsung app "Hubs".

keep getting the odd random reboot, I am disappoint.

Actually it's probably because i've been using a Nokia E72 charger for 5 months that's at my gf's house as I only have 1 samsung charger:p

Try CM9 instead, I've been using it for a week without any issues! The main issues are with video recording and Youtube playback but I don't really use them that often.

So you lose stable video playback and have the occasional (more that occasional for me) overheating and force close issues but what do you gain ?

I dont understand. theres a thread on xda full of people with issues and devs saying don't use it as a daily yet people on here are recommending it to people:/

I guess some people don't fully need to utilise the capabilities of such a phone so can easily make do with bugs in video playback etc.
