Well, my wife has just put down a deposit on a beautiful cottage in the Pyrenees...during the Tour de France! :)
Last year was great, but Brittany & Normandy are both pretty flat and the riders whizzed past.
Haha, dont get too excited. I was in the alps a couple of years ago on a Cat 1 climb and they still whizzed past :(

What did you ask him?

I asked if he got fed up of having to fulfil obligatory sponsor's obligations (from the perspective that I'm sure he'd rather have been doing anything else after a hard day then answering silly questions from SKY fan bois). They didn't post the question for some reason on my screen, but he saw it and replied something along the lines of:

This is not a hobby. THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL SPORT. Supporting our sponsors is what we do.

I've heard him spin that 'not a hobby' line a thousand times before. Perhaps I took it the wrong way, but I thought 'Cheeky *******!' :)

Fair enough question, but they probably are less humorous when it comes to defending their paymasters. :D I'm sure they do get fed up with all the commitments though.

I can see his point though, it is a job at the end of the day and he wouldn't have that job if it weren't for your sponsors. It'd be a bit like complaining about having meetings with your boss about a payrise... to their face.

Need some tubes for my 700x23, any particular brands to go for or is it a bit like splitting hairs?

I think as long as you go for a good brand you're ok. I got some cheap nasty tubes with my bike that lose nearly 5psi a day and they're only run at 75psi. Where as the nice schwalbe tubes i got to go with my 23mm tyres barely lose any pressure and they're run at 120psi.

I use Continental tubes. Zero punctures in 6 months and a slow loss of pressure from 110 PSI (5PSI over two weeks). Not sure how relevant that is as I've never used any other tubes, but I believe that cheap tubes are a bad idea.

Right, at my new office the bike is going to be parked outside attached to a sheffield stand and it won't be within immediate view of reception.

So, I've just bought myself an Almax Immobiliser Series IV Uber with a Squire CEN 6 SS65CS lock.

Happier, but it still doesn't beat being underground on a secure campus.
I've got an Immobiliser III with that padlock. Same chain but 16mm links. I think you're going to have a shock when it arrives :D

Cheap tubes drop their pressure quicker than better tubes. I've always sung the praises of Raleigh tubes, but they typically drop 10psi in a week, so I might try some of those Conti ones Robbie G uses.

a BIG BIG BIG box was delivered to my work place today ;D drove it home and now cant wait to open it ;D ( once I get back home from work ofc)

Will try to get some decent shots of it ;D

Someone near me is selling a 2005 Specialized Allez Elite inc Shimano 105 (9 speed :() for £300. Thoughts? Fair price or still too much for such an 'old' bike?

Only problem is it's a 56cm (bottom to top of seat tube) frame and I'm 5'11" with a 34" inside leg :/.

Thanks.

If it weighs less than 10kg I'll be very disappointed!
I *think* my 1.5m Immobiliser III weighs 14kg with the padlock. Could be wrong though :p
