iCEnhancer and DKT70 road textures?

Any others?

I had a quick play with icenhancer yesterday, in some places it can look stunning but in sunlight it just gets way to bright and looks stupid. Some things looked a bit blurry as well. It does have a txt file you can edit so I guess playing with a few settings will help. But to me so far I can't find a decent mod to do a complete playthrough. The original graphics outweigh the pro's and con's of ice imo. But then again I have not played with the settings so you can probs fix the bright areas.

Going to play with those road textures tonight when I get home.

I have both the Xbox and PC version and have only played a couple of hours of the Xbox one.

Got the full GTA set from Steam for £5 so thought it was an essential purchase ;)

I expect i'll more likely stick to the Xbox one as i've already started it

I now have the road textures installed thanks to AzZ, they look very nice and do not seem to drop any FPS at all using them. Now looking for other mods to install, iCEnhancer is great for showing us what can be done but overall it is just not good enough for a playthrough. Far to many light bugs and far to much time in the config file trying to get it perfect which I really don't think can be done. I just hope Rockstar have taken note of what can be achieved for GTA V

My bro got it for me as a Xmas present, was running a nasty dual core AMD CPU at the time, the game was jerky as hell, I eventually got a quad core CPU to chuck in the board and it made a massive difference to the game.

Am I right in thinking the graphics mod known as ENB - http://enbdev.com/index_en.html is the same as the ICEnhancer ENB mod? - http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/icenhancer-135---enb-graphic-mod-f11005

But, the difference is ICEnhancer has been optimised already whereas ENB isnt and you have to edit the config file yourself?

I just got a bit confused as the author of the ENB mod and the ICEnhancer is the same - Boris Vorontsov.

Also, are the DKT70 road textures already included in the ICEnhancer mod or do you have to install separate?

Anyone shed any light on this?

When I was first messing about with the mods I couldn't seem to find one that looked great in the day and at night. Either the lighting was too bright or at night it was too dark etc. I then finally managed to find settings that worked and played through the game enjoying the beatuful visuals. I'll post the settings that I use- give them a try.

HERE are some screens of how it looks.

Yeah no problem. You'll need to get a few things.

You'll need iCEnhancer 1.25

DKT70's road textures

Then I used H1Vltg3 Final iCEnhancer 1.2.5 Modifed Settings

Follow the Readme in H1Vltg3 modified settings exactly and it should look like that.

You'll also want to get Realizm IV 6.2 but you will only need the map textures from it so you won't need to install the entire mod (it's all in the Readme).

Make sure you're running patch 1.0.4.0 and your game is moddable. If your not sure how to do this it's in the readme included with H1Vltg3's settings.

It's probably best if you mod it again after a fresh installation.

I can only say one word and that is WOW

They look amazing day and night, I do keep a fresh copy on my HDD so I can just copy back fresh as and when needed. I will be trying these settings over the next day or two.

Thanks very much.

Had it on PC, never completed it or felt like wanting to.

Got it on Xbox for xmas from the missus and completed it in about 2 weeks.

Found it much better to play when camped out on the sofa

+1 totally with ya on this :D

This is one PC game thats actually more fun to play AWAY from the PC on a TV in the living room. Which is what Ive done. A 15-meter HDMI cable comes down the stairs from gaming rig into my HDTV downstairs.

And now ...yea...wireless Xbox controller + GTA IV = so much more fun!

Fridge is closer as well

Awesome, thanks for this AzZ!

Just downloaded all the files (excluding the textures pack from the Realizm mod as it is quite big, I will download that next though.) Ive got everything else, iCEnhancer 1.25, DKT70 road textures and the H1Vltg3 modified settings mod.

Was worried it wouldnt load or crash for some reason, but wow, just wow. It worked first time and looks so good.

UPDATE - I played around with the settings ingame (not iceconfig) and found the best settings for my rig. Also, I turned 'Definition' off, this really changes the look of the game and makes it pretty much identical to the picture of the iCEnhancer mod earlier in this thread. By turning Definition off it creates an effect like motion blur and focus. So things not in the centre of the screen and anything in the distance is slightly blurred. It makes it so much more realistic looking I love it.

I hate definition, it makes things look like you need glasses.
It would be ok if it only blurred things in the distance but it blurs things far too close.

What 'mod packs' do people recommend to put real life cars into the game instead of the stock ones? Like the screenshot earlier in this thred with a black Audi.

Don't get a car pack!

Find individual cars that you want, and get them installed one-by-one. You're less likely to get the Yellow Taxi bug too by doing it one-by-one.

Where did you get the idea that icelaglace and Boris Vorontsov are the same person?

iCEnhancer is based on one of the latest ENB mods for GTA 4, it's an ENB config with custom shaders.

Truth is, Boris should be credited for most of the work since others are just improving on it.

And no, DKT70 textures aren't in the mod. None are.

Nobody uses mod packs.

Depth of Field and Motion Blur, hardly new effects in games.

Both of which get turned off when setting options before even starting the game.
I hate motion blur. Crysis, Borderlands etc, they all have it now & I can't stand it. All it does is replicate the days when you got bad ghosting on old TFT monitors.
The definition setting in GTA was used for consoles to make the game still look good with everything going on & the lack of processing power. They ported it to the PC and kept the option because not many PC's could run the game well so at least it still looked reasonable with low settings. Why anyone still uses it is beyond me

Agreed I hate motion blur, makes me feel ill with it on. I always turn it off as well.

Maybe its just my eyes then but I personally think GTA4 with the iCEnhancer mod looks far better with Definition turned off (blurred) rather than turned on (graphics are defined no matter the distance but dont look realistic enough).

You can tell from these shots taken by a poster in this thread that definition is turned off and IMO looks way better this way. - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=20548467&postcount=13837

I disagree.
Things look all blurred in the distance and even quite close to the screen. It makes you feel you need to wear glasses. Only things near the screen have any detail. Take the 3rd pic down for example, the police car with the person in front. You need to really look to see it is a person in front of the police car & not a piece of paper.

The 4th picture from the bottom. The scaffolding looks blurred but you're only 4 paving slabs away from it. I know I can see more the 4 slabs in front of me when I walk down the street. I can't see the logic in buying HD displays then blurring everything to make it look 7 years old. Even the tree just across the road is blurred, it's a tree, just across the road...
