Is anyone else looking forward to the new series of Spartacus?

I'm not sure when this starts in the UK, however, as the first episode is up online for everyone to view, I'm assuming its OK to start a thread to at least discuss the first episode.

I was actually luck enough to be at the premier screening with the cast early last week as my friend worked on the costumes for this season, so sorted it out, as I thought it might be fun to see the first episode in a huge cinema screening room. Definitely the best way to watch it by the way, the sound was epic! Anyway, I really liked the first episode, I think Liam Mcintyre has a lot to live up to however. From the basics I understand about the new series, there are a lot of twists and turns to look forward to, so I'm excited to see how the season develops!

Has anyone else watch the first episode yet?

We are only allowed to talk about programmes that have aired in the UK. It airs on Monday 30th on Sky 1 at 10pm. Hold off until then and, please for the love of all things that are good, use spoiler tags!

More of the same really. Directly follows on, wouldn't make an ounce of sense it you hadn't seen the previous season. Although it was a bit confusing who was Spartacus. They had to change actor for sad reasons.

Was a very fine start to the new series, the new actor who is playing Spartacus did a good job although due to it being only the first episode it is a case of not quite seeing him as spartacus just yet.

Plenty of tension building in this episode, along with loads of fighting, women... oh and a very special scene with Lucy Lawless.

It honestly did not dissappoint and the entire series could be a cracker,

A bit weird with a different Spartacus, a couple of times I was wondering who the hell this guy was!

Still enjoyable nonetheless, can't wait to see more.

I actually thought that the new Spartacus fitted in pretty well, given the unfortunate circumstances. The casting etc didn't leave me with the usual huge dislocation I experience when they change an actor for someone who looks absolutely nothing like the previous actor.

hes got no muscles and doesnt look like a gladiator...

he would have been in the mines with the other wimps

Really didn't click with me at all. I have seen all the other series and this is the first one that hasn't interested me in the slightest. I loved the other seasons but as arknor says, I was never really convinced by this guy. Hes not ripped enough and doesn't seem like he is anything like as hardcore as he should be.

I'll probably watch another one or two of these but I'm not bothered by it at all right now.

Wasn't an avid watcher last year (it's my OH's thing, not mine really), but last night's ep, I asked a couple of times, "which one's Spartacus again?" as I couldn't remember which one was the new Spartacus. Sad to think of the circumstances that brought him to the role. Liked the little tribute to Andy Whitfield at the end of the credits.

Also,
Is Spartacus going to end up being revealed as the father of blonde woman's baby? After the flashback scene with the gold mask, I assume that's when she got knocked up?
