****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Why would I blame Amazon? It's not their fault products they're given don't work. It's down to Samsung, I've had no issues with getting refunds or returning items to Amazon, they're great as far as I'm concerned.

Also I don't want another iPhone, I hate iTunes, that being said I did have a 3g which was faultless for years, none of this hassle. I think I'll get another android, just something different. Razr maybe?

Galaxy Nexus, obvious choice.

But I now have an irrational fear of Samsung phones

I must have broken a mirror, walked under a ladder, had a black cat cross my path and opened an umbrella in my house. FML.

It is made by Samsung, but not as much as the Galaxy S II... :o :p

The Razr and Sensation XE are both decent but not as good as the Nexus and SII.

What about the Nokia Lumia 800? Windows Phone is great.

Not a great deal :/.

From being a Tier 5 customer at Orange and using a loyalty discount I managed to get the following last week:

- Free handset
- 18 month contract
- 400 minutes
- Unlimited texts
- 1.25GB internet
- Lots of magic numbers
- £26/m and can upgrade after 6 months.

I was 6 months away from my contract ending, so not even the best time to negotiate. You can get a better deal as a new customer.

As a new O2 customer? I dont mind switching network but it means my minutes have to increase seeing as I wont have the O2-O2 calls. O2 seem adamant that this is the best they can do...

Unsure, I'll make a new thread later on I think to see what options I have, I don't want to clutter up this 1 with talk about non-Galaxy S2 stuff.

I havn't seen screen burn like that in a while, can't believe amazon are shipping out refurbs though, that's pretty underhand. It might be the handset was QA tested and left on by accident giving that burn, you could try running it for a day to see if the colours go (play a movie a few times).

I'm not really sure how the screen was made to stay on permanently like that though, screen timeout etc... :/

Hmm I've had a look around and honestly cant find a better deal. There are others which are cheaper with more minutes, but they dont include the 500 O2-O2 minutes, 1GB data or free weekend calls.

That would apply to refurbs though, which amazon shouldn't be selling.

Exactly, it's pretty sly if it's true, which it looks to be.

What course of action should I take? Demand compensation for wasting my time? Try and get the money back on my now useless SD card + Screen protectors? Demand more?

Obviously I'm waiting on a refund first before I complain.

My Orange branded SGSII arrived today. How do I go about removing all the generic Orange crap (apps etc).

Surely I don't have to root just to do that?

Must admit I've had two different SGII orders from Amazon in the last month and all have been brand new, without issues. And as the op mentioned their return policy is one of the best.

Another company however, clearly sent me a return ( Nokia N9 ) which was immediately sent back for a refund.

Ive had my S2 a while now guys.... love it

quick question if I can ...save trawling through all the 500+ pages :(

I bought a case mate to go with mine..... excellent stuff saved its life at least twice :)

is there a good desktop dock / charger that will fit with the case on...

also an in car charger holder.... I did have the Brodit one for the first Galaxy S ... loved that ... but alas their new one wont fit with the casemate on..

suggestions ?
cheers

Which casemate do you have?

The Zenis desktop dock will cater to most cases, it fits the official case as well as my Walnutt bumper case. eBay for purchasing one :)

As for the car, fashion a DIY one following my guide or buy a Nokia CR115 as it's equally good.

Also, battery life!

I'm now seeing the best battery life I have seen yet with heavy usage as an all round smartphone.

Modem: KI4 I find to be the best for reception + battery usage.
Kernel: SpeedMod K19 Test 5 (has the best deep sleep I find).
ROM: CheckROM v4.

I'm on 28% battery left now after over 15 hours with 1hr 5mins of voice calls, 1hr 44mins of screen on time and light GPS. No battery saving apps, all sync enabled and GoogleTalk/WhatsApp/Google+/Twitter/WWF/WordFeud always running.
