Is Battlefield 3 worth £30?

Ahh no way, not on the BF2 expansion maps. Those maps are all skill based and tactics. I myself do not like the BF3 maps and I agree they are to small and designed for console play. But the BF2 maps make this game great imo

In all honesty I never played the B2K maps in BF3, I really got fed up of vanilla and stopped playing before it was released.

The game graphically is good, but gameplay wise for me it was way too dumbed down and easy to play, there's no real thinking involved on the vanilla maps, if that's changed on B2K then that's 1 good thing, but it's sad that the only maps considered anything better than "okay" are ones from a previous game when they weren't catering for the console crowd.

Not trying to spread hate, just speaking from what I saw when I played, was very disappointing for me.

Honestly **** off! We all know it will play very well. I should be asking that stuff not you. just because you have a 2500k and some Nvidia graphics card doesn't mean you need to show off. People have 7970s so pipe the **** down.

Sorry for the rant, but I've soon too many people asking if it works on some insane systems, and others asking if 2x 7970s are overkill (yes I read the after story to that, but still makes you question why people would want to show off)

It's the most demanding game out AFAIK, and 4GB RAM is not a lot, and a GTX 460 is a budget card. :/

just get the £17 russian version, easy to swap it to english language, and it plays fine( i bought mine for £17 yesterday

AND I RUN THE GAME OK. I think that should answer your question.

I think this is a pretty fair question tbh. It's hardly a top of the range system and he just wanted an idea how it will handle a game that is very demanding. He didn't ask IF it will run, but how well.
I have a similar specced machine and although it ran the alpha pretty well on High I've since upgraded to a 1920x1080 monitor so not sure how well the retail version will handle the increased res.

I've heard a lot about this game but haven't bought it yet - I'm an 'older' gamer and the whole multiplayer thing has passed me by. I've played the earlier Battlefied series with bots and enjoyed it. I can't find any evidence of BF3 bots or mods. Is it likely to happen for PC?

If you ever get the game give me a shout. WE have a few regular guys that play with us that 'could' be described as older

Yeh going from 4 to 8GB on my system really helped, also getting SLI to work (2x460s) let me up the graphics, so definitely a fair question

How old are you? I play it at 35. Most of my clan are older. One of them is over 60. It is never too late.

Got bored of it quickly but it's a top-notch title nonetheless.

Haven't touched the single player campaing though so can't comment on that.

I'm quite amazed to see the standard console versions are cheaper than the standard PC version. Saying that, until you want to buy the DLC. £10/11... pretty sure it's £11.99 on the PSN. PC versions were always to some degree £5 - £10 cheaper or more than the console.

Shows you how good the game is for 3 months later and it holds above £25.

I got mine for £25, graphically its amazing! I only have it at medium but i find it a lot better than my ps3.

CPU is good obviously although it doesn't need to be for this game which is very GPU dependent indeed. Graphics card will be fine for high settings, depending on what resolution you play at. Helps if it is 1GB rather than 768MB?

4GB RAM is adequate but ideally you want 8GB for this game or loading times can be long, and it can stutter on servers with lots of players.
