What film did you watch last night?

Troll Hunter - Got is from recommendations on here and was not disappointed! It is a Norwegian 'found footage' type based around the premise that trolls could actually exist. Stunning scenery too. 4/5

Good movie, but try to watch the Norwegian language and English subtitles version rather than the english dubbed verision. I think the dubbed version loses some things in translation and makes the film a bit daft.

Drive - 10/10

Couldn't fault it, was glued from beginning to end. The sound track was immense I thought, the pacing was perfect, and it had a uniqueness to it. Classic imho.

I Saw the Devil - 10/10

Best film I've seen in ages, extremely violent but brilliant at the the same time. Would never have watched it or maybe even heard of it, if it wasn't due to other forum members posting here.

I watched this move based on your post.

I am glad i did, outstanding movie. Thanks.

Shudder - I never watch dubbed films. The subtitles are really good in this, very clear, bright white with a tiny black outline make them very readable, unlike some.

Subtitles can easily be configured to display a certain way, you never have to be stuck with the default subs like on some movies, you just change the font/formatting and borders in your playback software.

Of course this does mean watching movies via a computer instead of a BD/DVD player.

13 - Having not seen the original so cant comment on it being a remake, but as a film in its own right i enjoyed it, its certainly better than the 6.2 imdb rating imo!

The Next Three Days
When his wife is sent to jail on murder charges she fervently denies, college professor John Brennan comes up with a meticulous plan for the ultimate prison escape -- even though he's never committed a crime in his life.

6/10
pretty good film, dragged in the middle, just didnt need to be that long. also felt that although it was to long also concentrated on the wrong areas. still worth a watch though.

Watched drive the other night, good film 8.5/10.
Got me in the mood for another,so going to watch Deathproof tonight...an old Tarantino flick with Kurt Russell as a sociopathic stuntman with a liking for stalking young ladies in his Dodge Challenger...should be good!!

Chronicle - 8/10. Very original take on the superhero genre and the handheld camera did help the immersiveness especially with the flying. Really helped that all 3 characters were likeable and had good chemistry. Not perfect as the film takes a much darker turn quite abruptly rather than a smooth transition but the ending is very well done, the switch to CCTV cameras is very well done and gives a greater impact.

Also for anyone else who has seen it:

I found the 'landing' after they first start flying hilarious, especially after Steve is hugging and kissing Andrew and Matt just comes falling down with that yelp :D

I posted about the trailer the other day as I knew nothing about it until I watched the trailer randomly.

Very much looking forward to seeing it!

I actually preferred Deathproof, over Drive.
Drive was OK, but not as good as 10/10 that some have given it.

Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy.....just superb.Anyone who appreciates a brilliant cast with a first class espionage/spy story will love this. 9/10.

I was thinking about watching this.

I went on IMDB to find out more about this movie. There are many people who liked this. However, I was more interested in seeing what the fuss was about. The trailer shows grey/ugly men in a dark room talking and doing very little else.

Anyway, here are some snippets of user reviews which I thought were amusing:

if you are looking for a film that keeps you on the edge of your seat then this is the film for you...the trouble is when you get to the edge of your seat you will then want to get up and leave the theatre cos this has to be the most dull, dismal, grey, boring film ever made. there is more life in a mortuary

Unless you enjoy utter boredom, skip this pointless and protracted journey into the, evidently, mind numbingly dull world of cold war espionage.

When i saw the trailer for this film, i thought it looked alright, then i saw a poster on a bus stop and realised it had some good actors in that i liked. 10 minutes into this film i realised it was not what i had thought, it had a poor start (= a poor first impression) and the whole film is just dull, pointless and boring. The actors are good, but in terms of action, violence, bad language, or anything that may give a slight adrenaline rush, there is none. The only people who would enjoy this is people over 60 who lived through the seventies.

I always think that films that start out boring have potential to pick up at the end and redeem themselves, and many do, but this one never came close.

First of all I have to say, I find it hard to think of many films at all that I hate. This one definitely fits into that category though.

Not only was this the most confusing film I have ever seen, it was also the most bored I ever remember being.

There are plenty more gems on imdb about this movie.

I think I may have to watch this movie, if only to see just how bad it really is. Sometimes a movie can be so bad...it's good.

American History X - 7/10 (not as good as hoped)

I was most impressed with this movie.
I saw it on the telly, without actually intending to watch it (I think it was on ITV4, late night).

Until this point I always wondered why so many people rated Edward Norton's acting ability so highly. I had never seen him as anything special. However, after watching this movie I was shocked just how good he is (when he wants to be). It's a shame that Norton hasn't become a bigger "star" - for me, he is one of the best actors of his generation.
