****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Has anyone tried any of the custom XXLPB builds on xda? I tried İCS REMİX ROM v8.6, but my battery died in a few hours due to the media scanner. I thought it was a problem with this rom but apparently it's a general thing with XXLPB.

I've been using Wanamlite ICS for the last couple of days and haven't had any issues with battery. In fact, this is the first ICS that I feel I can use as a daily. Previously I kept falling back to Checkrom but I see no need to now.

Battery life seems fine, ended yesterday on about 44% which is similar to my Checkrom usage.

Been using the latest Samsung leaks, the latest version seems stable for me. The ones previous was horrendous, random freezes, restarts and mobile internet dropping.

Current one seems stable. When it's final I may opt for a version without Samsung's GUI as I like the stock ICS interface (looks great on my Xoom).

Could anyone me out with an annoyance thats really bugging me?

Basically when browsing a website in the stock browser in Checkrom scrolling up and down is nice and neat but when browsing using the stock browser via Hyperdroid (and others) the page will move from side to side unless you're really accurate with finger movement.

Is this a known bug or a feature of some sort that i can change? I know its kind of minor but its really setting off my OCD :)

Thanks

I think other apps just use a basic container to display web pages, instead of using the stock browser to render the pages.

My battery life is beyond a joke... I'm running GoLauncher on 2.3.4 however it was the same with the stock launcher. My display is apparently destroying the battery, but it's on the shortest timeout, lowest brightness and all animations etc are off.

Help!

2.3.4 is rather old, update to 2.3.6? Various improvements to be had in battery drain.

I'm mainly trying to work out whether it's something obvious or an app that people may have had issues with previously... however I can't put my finger on it. My phone was at 100% at 8am, 5pm and it's at 8%. Not good enough!

I got my S2 on Three contract and really impressed. I have some quick questions.

1. How can I lock the screen? I had it in my pocket and it seems like I was accidentally hitting some apps.

2. My first charge lasted me just over 9 hours. Will this improve after the battery gets more charge? I disabled app synch, lowered brightness etc.

3. I noticed my connection would go from 3G, H and sometimes to H+. This is fine right?

4. While experimenting I unticked "use packet data" and realised what it actually did. When I went to enable it again it said I might be charged for this? If so, how much?

You should just get used to charging it every day.. imo the extended battery is just so you can play with it more in the day and no worry about it going flat too early on!

Generally excepted that when you have a dual core phone with a huge screen you are going to destroy the battery and to expect to charge every day surely?

1. Pressing the power button will lock the phone. The automatic lock timeout can be adjusted in the settings.

2. The battery life will improve after 2-3 charges.

3. The possible data icons you will see in order of speed are: G, E, 3G, H, H+ depending on the capability of the mast you're connected too. Even if you're in a area covered by H and H+ service the phones data connection will flick to 3G when not in use so to save power.

4. You won't be charged if you have a data allowance with your contract and don't go over your allowance.

I wish every day was sufficient, today I unplugged my phone (100% charge) at 8am and it was at 1% by the time I got back from work at 5:30pm. Without excessive use, as the picture above shows my display just wipes it out. :(

Using LPB again, but I'm getting constant wakelocks every 10 minutes or so from the wifi disconnecting and reconnecting. Anyone else have this and know whether its kernel based?

something is odd.. just get MIUI rom on it and it'll last 2 days.. :)

I've been having some terrible battery life/ 'the Android OS bug' these past few days (since messing around with ICS roms at the weekend).

I've tried 2 different ICS roms so far, both with 2 different kernels (the CF-root LPB and LP6 ones), and even going back to my nandroid backup of my 2.3.4 rom didn't fix it.

Just checked the phone and it's been off charge for 1h15 and it's down to 78% already, and that's with almost no use (screen off, which used to be <0.5% per hour, not ~20% per hour :s), the android battery stats are saying Android OS as the only thing there with 99% of the battery...

Gonna try some battery stats stuff from the market to see if I can see anything else wrong, but presumably this isn't a problem with the rom so much as something changed/broke when flashing the roms, in which case what's the best way to fix it? Should I just get one of the stock roms and flash with Odin which should clear everything?
