The Falklands thread

The Argentines might be right that they are in range of our nuclear weapons, they do after all have a pretty long range on them but its pushing it to say that just because we've got within 7000 miles of the we're making a threat -does all of europe feel threatened when their sat in their home ports.

to a point, information was only presented after HMS sheffield was hit, despite NATO obligations and this alleged threat to the french. it was hardly a ally helping out eagerly, they were pushed into a corner and relented.

I seriously don't think they would take them in the firstplace, we already have everything we need in the area / heading to the area should it kick off.

Appologies, i thought the exocet was a fire and forget self tracking weapon with no destruct possibility once launced.

Simple really, clear them out.. then the Falklands is a non issue.. too many poofs in the world these days, war is the only way to solve issues, so lets get on with it and do it properly.. none of this tactical muck, just nuke it too the ground, bombs, those biological ones that infect and kill people, all of that.

Then send in the troops and its a shoot on sight policy. If the Argies didnt want it, they would surrender, its not as if they have to go through it.

This was basically our UN guys response to the accusations. Of course defence was bolstered after the war, that is just common sense. Especially since they put taking control of the islands into their constitution, making any peaceful talks impossible. The Type 45 sent is just replacing an oldrr ship as part of the modernisation of the fleet. Something, to be fair, Argentina are unfamiliar witj.

I want to see this ”intelligence" on the location of one of our SSBNs. They are nigh on undetectable. Their location is a state secret. And the Trident IIs have a range of 7000 miles, having one in the area would be unnecesary even if it were to nuke Argentina.

dont quote me on this but we have 500 troops, 4 eurofighters, a type 42 there now and a type 45 swapping with it in march, probbaly a non nuke sub floating around, as well as plenty of anti air missiles and im sure anti ship missiles.

they keep saying we have fortifighed the base but never say how so couldnt really say. but i cant see the argies getting on the islands unless they get some help care of the russians and chinese.

or do an all out attack with thusands of troops all attacking at once and hoping we just run out of ammo before they run out of men.

but for all the posturing thats going on, its just there politicians trying to hide the fact the country is on its knees and is pritty much bankrupt. if they can use us as a evil party it hides there own inability to solve there problems out.

you think they provided an oil tanker do you, right, like we didn't have fuel oil.
