VW recall - Injectors on PD140 and PD170s

Got a letter for my old 05 plate passat in the post last week and rung them as I bought a 07 plate one earlier this week. its in the garage now - no quibbles no fuss, they are replacing them even though the car is out of warranty.

Couple of threads online if you search for them about PDI engines cutting out whilst on the motorway hence why this work is done for free! - phew!

If you have a deisel 140 or 170PS engine - just ring them and they'll book it in ;)

Will this apply to Golf Plus?

From a quick google the Golf Plus has been fitted with the PD170 so it's worth phoning VW to find out.

I'm looking to buy a used Skoda Fabia VRS - would this model be effected (diesel VRS this is) ?

Yes the MK1 diesel VRS had the PD170 fitted, a mate of mine used to have one. Give Skoda a call and see what they say.

excellent!, just got mine back from the dealer.

I had it in for injector recall and was complaining of problems with engine noise and when setting off from cold it wasn't really 'taking off'.

Drives much smoother AND better performance, them injectors must have been well dodgy, as thats all they did, changed all 4 injectors, and wiring loom :)

Little bit OTT don't you think?! Was grabbing a quick shifty of the forums while at work and in my haste I misread it as an Octavia vRS, which of course was fitted with the PD170..my mistake.

Nope.

The Mk1 Octavia vRS never came as a Diesel. The PD170 was in the Mk2 so you were still incorrect anyway.

Hey guys, is there any way I can check if my Seat would be affected by this or somewhere I can stick the VIN number to check for recalls?

Its a 2L mk4 Ibiza sport, I'm not sure what engine it is as tbh I know cack all about cars :p

EDIT: Didnt see the Seat number on front page.
just called them and they checked no recalls showing for my car :)

She also said it was only the Leons that were effected by this injector recall.

How much did it cost?

Column used to be £1200 + Fitting + VAT

part is approx £50. I think the coding has to be done at main dealer as it is something to do with the computers as the factory. Local VW specialist took ours over to the dealer as he couldn't do it.

I been to a bosch garage and they couldn't fix my car, they give me the cods but they don't know the faults. If is only £50 vs £1200 + + + i will save again a small fortune.

Been making a lot of time up on these recalls! (23h9) Vw pay us 3hours to replace 4x injectors (if required), wiring loom, rocker shaft bolts, adjustment bolts + securing bolts for injectors. Only takes me about 1-1.2hours to do it including adaption.
The 170pd's have a bit of a different design rocker cover that has to be removed which takes a couple more minutes, but still very very easy to get in time and a nice little job to carry out to be fair.
And for anyone who cares, the 140hp and the 170hp engines do indeed use different injectors (170's are now fitted with part # ending in t, and the 140's are now fitted with part # ending in S)

Any questions just ask!

Is it only VW that are affected, or are Seat/ Skoda / Audi equivelents affected too? I have a 57 plate A6 2.0TDi 140 for example.

Thx

I cannot be 100percent certain, but your car i'm sure is in the same year as the vw's affected. If your engine code is BKP, i would like to say it would be covered under the recall, but again i cannot be certain. Your best bet is to call up your local audi and ask, the worst thing they can say is no.

My parents have a Golf 2ltr Diesel. No idea what year but I would guess about 07. Any chance this is affected?

If it is around 2007-2008 then yes, i would say it was affected, Especially if it is the 170hp version.
