Pathetic AMD release...

In defense of the card:

It's going up against the best 'bang for buck' card that is out there right now. It's also aimed more at Dell/HP and co who do value cards that use less power and produce less heat more than people on these boards!

Two 6950s offer significantly more performance than a 7970. If you can get said 7970 to 1.2Ghz however, then it's a much more difficult decision to make

When you have 2 unlocked 6950's@1GHz;) that cost considerably less than a 7970 sitting in your rig for over a year, there is only one winner!:D

I've done crossfire and sli - wont be doing either again.

Give me one card for less heat, less power, less noise, greater simplicity and more compatibility any day.

Only reason for xfire would be eyefinity imo.

Nvidias marketing department is a thing to behold....

They've released nothing but rumours and mutterings complaining about yields and apparently its they who are awesome, rather than AMD who have, you know, actually managed to get a product out.

Well they're not going to come out and say "Fair play, AMD have released some half decent cards !" :D

But yes I agree totally. Money talks, BS walks and all. Right now all they have is BS.

I fear you've missed Tommybhoys point entirely....

What, if you have either 1 or 2 unlocked 6950's or 6970 then the 7970 is pointless? Course it is, just like if you had an i7 920 then SB was pointless, your point is?

In the majority of things, a 6970 Crossfire at 1GHZ will kill a 7970.

Which can also be read as "in some things a 7970 will compete with 6970 crossfire at 1ghz" And your point?

I can tell you that my mate has 2x6970's and a 7970. He has decided the 6970's will be going in his spare machine and the 7970 will be in his main rig. He thinks the 7970 is a stronger performer with less hastle in the majority of his games. He does play all sorts though. Anyhow when i am through at his for gaming nights i will have a [email protected] 6970 crossfire rig to play around with.

I'll admit the 7970 is less hassle due to a lack of Crossfire issues.
But the 6970 Crossfire will pump out more frames.
Also, since he's just blown 400+ on the 7970, don't you think that's going to effect his judgement :p?

You made a blanket statement of it trading blows with, not "In a few situations they'll trade blows".
A 6970 1GHZ Crossfire generally kills a 7970.

In that review, look at the 7970 versus the 6990 in the majority of situations, guess which wins? The 6990.

Martin, you may be a keyboard warrior picking and choosing benchmarks to woo us with, but here are the facts

A 7970, when overclocked competes with 590, 6990, 6970cf, in some instances it beats them, and in some instances it's beaten.

This is amazing performance from a single GPU solution.

And if and when Kepler is released and it's good, i'll buy one of those for my other machine, your point?

The only keyboard warrior is you dave, I'm not picking and choosing benchmarks, I'm giving a link to a review where you can look at the benchmarks yourself.

I don't care what you'll do when Kepler released, who the hell mentioned Kepler?

Martin, cherry picked benchmarks are usually done with a bias spin, I was just stating facts.

My apologies if you weren't trying to paint me as a fanboy again

You are a fanboy, but that 400+ on a 7970 comment wasn't directed at you.
But that's interesting that you thought it was, insecure are we?
I also know what cherry picked benchmarks were, I wasn't linking to any, I linked to a review.
