The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Hehehe

My corp are slowly introducing me to PVP - Including an all T3 fleet...with their guidance, I won't pop this one anytime soon :)

Won't be flying it till it's fully specced though...training Weapons Upgrades IV atm (can't remember exactly what for but it's needed) then afterwards its T2 drones.

Hey guys.

I've been resubbed for a while now. I'm basically just training for HAC's and the other Tier 2 Cruisers (Logistics I'm quite interested in).

Does the OcUK Corp do a lot of PvP? I basically just want to get into small gang PvP (in wormholes, low or null sec, wherever) and just generally see some fleet action. I will be in a Tier 2 Cruiser in a few days and will happily fly Interceptors or Assault Frigs till then.

Do you think there is a space for me? :)

Less than 9 hours away from inties now! I just hope my corp starts doing something more than missions soon, it's getting pretty boring :(

Gonna buy 2 saders and fit one for PvE and one for PvP. Hopefully I'll be able to find some action to test it out with :)

T1 Cruiser/BC is a great pvp learning ship.

T1 fit, plated - cheap & cheerful.

My cruiser (Omen) and BC (Harby) are both crap, I take less damage in my slicer, probably due to my (lack of) training. Hell, I was trying to do recon yesterday (stupid lvl2 mission that's insanely hard for somer reason) and my slicer lasted about as long as my BS (geddon) before I had to warp out (and only cost 5000 to repair the hull damage instead of 1.7mil).

I definitely am gonna stuck with frigs for now until my base skills are up. I'm enjoying the dogfight style instead of the slower paced "float around and pewpew" of bigger ships. Once my base skills are all 4+ I'll go back to my BC and try that again.

Recon is hard as nails (look at the bounties). You're actually supposed to dash through it.

You need something proper tanky to do it as a kill mission. Either an afterburning AF or a really well skilled HAC/BC.

Omen is poo as T1 cruisers go. I recommend either the navy omen in shield nano configuration (with armour it compares quite unfavourably to a shield harbinger on price/performance) or an arbitrator for PVP.

I think you need to get used to the "Look at my DPS! I am an all powerful god! Ahahah hahaha ah oh... I'm primary and scrammed oh dear... :( " dynamic.

Also applicable to flying the Astarte. God I love that ship.

I thought T3's would take the pressure off CS prices anyway.

ASTARTE, Y U SO EXPENSIVE?!?

Yes there is an ocuk corp, you will need to speak to dagejoor when you get in game after joining the ocuk channel. They don't do any pvp though, but can still teach you the ropes to get back in there plus they have some null contacts still.

Don't think ocuk are at all active at the moment. Rarely see Dage online, let alone anyone else...

Thom - slicer will often take less damage than something bigger due to being small and fast and evading more damage. This will specifically be the case if Battleships are shooting you. It comes down to speed and sig radius, plus keeping a high transversal for avoiding damage.

Anyone eyeballing corps looking for ocukers to play with - hop into the ocuk channel regardless. :)

Yeah I get that small, fast ships get hit less but that more than equals out the extra EHP on my BC and BS, especially when you remember that a SAR repairs for more (as a %) than a MAR or LAR. In most missions I barely get scratched in my slicer. I'm hoping to take even less damage in my sader since that's even faster.

What I was saying about my skills is that I don't really have the basic tanking skills up yet, my armour compensations are only lvl2 for example. Once they're higher, the higher EHP of my bigger ships will be better but with them being low, I'm better off speed tanking than trying to shield/armour tank any damage.

Is it me or has something changed on a fundamental level with damage? I'm taking a lot more damage now than I was a week ago. I used to be able to run lvl2s and barely take any damage, just have a tick of my SAR every 30 secs or so and I'd never have to worry. Now I'm perma-running it when I jump into a large group and even then I sometimes have to warp out.

Yeah, recon is a strange one, you are not actually supposed to fight anything as most of the ships are elite cruisers an battlecruisers.

A guy mentioned this in game yesterday i naturally thought it was a scam, but its for real? :)

It's for real, it's addictive and it WILL result in an empty wallet.

I got lucky when I started and won about 1.5b worth of ships on my first 100ish mil, I've since put nearly another bil in and only won a couple of hundred mil back.

Still ahead iskwise but :FUUUUUUUU:

Edit:

ISK Deposited 870,000,000 ISK
Win Ratio 15.38%
Value of Blinks Won 2,052,000,000 ISK

I'm talking about in general, not just that one mission. Like I said in my above post though, I seem to be taking more damage in general.

I'm in an interceptor now and still taking a lot of damage, more than I'd expect when it's so much faster than my slicer was (went from 25% armour to dead in the time it took for my slicer to go to warp, just to make a point about the damage in some lvl2s, that wasn't recon either).

Interceptors have a lot less ehp than the slicer, especially hull where they are paper thin. You want an assault frigate for lvl 2 missions for sure.
