Awesome dad is awesome...

I'm not sure I understand why his girlfriend shouldn't have sky and bb though when she has a full time job?

To me it all sounds a bit preachy because he's getting something for "free."

Also once the money is at sky it goes to pay for wages, new projects which then fuels jobs etc. Like you said, depends how far you want to take the scenario. It's just not as cut and dry as "he spent x amount in a couple months, he should be lynched and ridiculed" like what people are doing in this thread. It's quite sad.

It was said that finances were tight before, now they've been given a house with the mortgage being paid that would strike me as a reasonable opportunity to enjoy not having such a stretch in the finances and maybe put aside some money for unforeseen emergencies rather than expanding the liabilities to take up what would otherwise have been spare cash.

It's their money and they are free to do whatever they want with it, I've not said or suggested otherwise. I simply have said that I think there might be better ways to use the money at the moment while it is a somewhat uncertain financial situation - hopefully of course it improves soon but if it doesn't then committing to spend you don't really need is rarely a wise plan.

Exactly, which is what I mentioned in my post a couple of pages back. 5Mb/s BB has suited me fine for the last 2 1/2 years @ £9.50 pm.

And my point about why people think nothing was wrong with what he was saying in his OP.

BB and TV certainly.... I can understand why people now think of these as necessities (even though I wouldn't) - but Infinity & a SkyHD package is taking the biscuit and is in no way improving his propects of getting of his backside & getting a job.

Yes OK - we know it's his money to spend on what he likes.... but seriously... why not a BB package at a third of the price and Freesat for the TV shows... with the money saved for a rainy day - or to help pay for a course / training etc.

I find it sad that people think it's wrong to point out basic English errors....

And that people genuinely don't know the difference between "Your" and "You're" after probably spending 15 odd years reading, writing and probably seeing it in everyday use.

That's why we pointed it out.....

Unless you would prefer he goes through the rest of his life thinking "Your" is correct....until he uses it on a CV, a Job application or an an essay required for that course he so badly wanted... then wonders why he is marked down - or refused the position he applied for.

Basic grammatical errors harm how others percieve your education and knowledge.

It's the internet. It happens.

Not it's not  There's not some inherent flaw in the Internet that causes instances of the word "you're" to be spelled "your". It might not seem important to you but there is a startling amount of people who don't know that two words they regularly use and understand are spelled differently and in a professional capacity, mis-use of those words might not bode well for you.

Indeed. I think it's only right to point out to a person that they are making grammatical mistakes that you might expect to see from a young child.

Why now though Robbo? These mistakes happen hourly on here. :p

And people start get to foamy around the mouth when you correct them. :D

Also the Finnish have a word for Grammer troops.

If the word is swearing in a foreign language then you shouldn't be posting it either.. lol
