Evoque arrived :)

Yeah there are better cars than 206's but it was cheap and like I said, it ticked all the boxes at the time, looking back now I may have bought something else, stop dragging out your hatred for me and just accept I have a different opinion. I have driven a Range Rover Sport, and yeah its comfy but convenient? No, its like trying to park a shed on wheels

When you drove on US roads, what car did you do it in?

 again, just my opinion. Not law

You post 'it's only my opinion' in every post once the questioning for people in Motors puts you in your place. The opinion card doesn't win or stop a discussion ;)

Love the Evoque even in White, plenty up here in Aberdeen.

One of my uni coursemates was part of the Evoque development team, quite cool tbh.

My parents are considering one of these at the moment, but my mum seems to prefer the freelander 2 :s dad is trying to sway her to this though. Did you try the Freelander 2 as well or was it a case of you wanted this one?

We didn't try the Freelander no. My parents have had a few RR Sport Superchargeds in the UK but my wife wanted something a little smaller. To be honest, the styling was a major factor, I always get all the fun cars, so she wanted something a little more exciting than a generic SUV.

I hope your dad wins, on looks there's no competition! I imagine visibility is easier in the freelander 2 though, the rear window looks tiny on the Evoque, something I'd be willing to live with! :)

The visibility is actually really good, especially since there are 5 or 6 cameras on the car to view all around it. The entire roof is glass too, not that it helps with useful visibility but it makes the car feel very spacious inside.

When the OP says 'we' I assume he means its for his wife, partner, other half etc....I don't see how the evoque is any different from other SUVs. Its not a hardcore offroad machine and its never intended to be (though its pretty decent as a 4x4 in any case). ;)

And jonnycoupe, forgot you work for jag lol :D

Spot on, its for my wife more than me. It is however a car I'll drive happily, kinda fits in with the edgy styling the GTR has.

Looks good!

How do you like the colour? I've got a Freelander on order in that colour and I'm intrigued as to what it's really going to look like! :)

I never would have picked it out of the list when ordering it because the swatches I've seen of it dont do it any justice at all. When we saw it in the showroom however, it was a different story; I think you'll be very pleased with your choice.

Very nice car, not my choice though i would have gone with a Sunseeker Superhawk or an A320.

- It does amuse me greatly when someone comes out with stupid alternative suguestions.

Good stuff, thanks! :)

Have to say that in general, I really am NOT an SUV fan. Logically I'd rather have an estate, which is exactly what I now own.

For all that, a neighbour has an Evoque and I have to say that it has massive desirability. Despite my prejudiced nature, can't help but rather want one. Love the interior, and especially the panoramic roof that is one our neighbours, it's awesome.

Only let downs I could see was with the exterior "trimmings". They look like nice alloy from a distance, but actually turn out to be fairly cheap silver plastic close up. Being fair, that's true of almost every manufacturer now. JLR really should offer the option of real alloy bits, door handles etc instead of obliging someone to have plastic.

Saw one of these in metallic grey the other day - looked like something out of an Alien film from the rear. I really like them.

FOX's opinion was not pointless at all. In fact it shows he actually has background knowledge about the area the OP lives in... like myself, and more importantly unlike you. A Land Rover Defender would not work in Florida, however the Evoque does.

^ Brilliant, I lol'd

First time in motors I have ever been correct about something. Huzzah! :D

Looks fantastic Dave, really like the fact you've ended upwith one with that paintwork, really smart.

Any chance of some pictures of the boot storage + rear seats? interested to know with a roof shape like that what its like back there.

Love the sound of a full glass roof, must be really nice to drive at night.

I post my opinion lol at the responses, despite not trying to troll everyone seems to turn on me when try to define and justify my opinion.

I'd take a Mud-covered Defender with no air con to the shops over any chrome covered Soccer mum car

Girl.

May I suggest a Punto with the 'CITY' mode pressed if your only attribute you have issue with is its parking.

A Punto? lol no thanks

Rear visibilty is fine, its better than the XJ as you look down the road rather than up the road. Evoque roof only really limits your view of clouds, not other road users, shame the side mirrors were so poorly implemented that they create a large view blockage.
