****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I assume you can use it with Orange branded phones?

If you're flashing it manually via Odin, yes (and once you have a generic ROM, rather then branded, you'll get the generic updates from Kies if you want them). There's no difference between branded and non-branded GT-i9100s hardware wise so any firmware will work on any phone :).

Updated to 4.0 now. :)

I expected to to look like Hydrogenics ROM with the window transitions and stuff though. :p

Is that some kind of launcher?

That would most likely be trebuchet launcher.

Anyones showing 0 signal bars by any chance? I'm sat here & my signal is blank it usually has full bars.

CheckROM v7 is not far away it seems, they've been working on it with the official leaks up until now so I imagine it's a case of updating and releasing :)

Good to hear. I was browsing the Checkrom forums this morning but couldn't see much about it, or is the discussion on XDA? (gave up on XDA a while ago, tend to just lurk in here now to stay in the loop)
Looking forward to Checkrom, always been happy with their ROMs.
On another note, I long for the day Android devices look slick and polished by default. Incredible how big manufacturers like Samsung can massacre something with their "own look".

Could be the LPQ modem or whatever LPQ ships with? You can always flash back the modem you used to have as these are ROM independent.

Edit*
^^ Yeah the discussions were posted a few times by the team in the XDA thread.

When the update does drop OTA or via KIES (or any minor update for that matter) does the phone do a back up, update and then restore, like the iphone?

Never seen a major or minor update on an android phone before.

Do you reckon all these things will come to the SG2.

Hmmm when I spoke to 3 they told me that you can get the update straight form Samsung or from 3's website.

I forgot, I got a text from three the other day saying they are doing updates on the postcode area where I live so maybe that is why it keeps bouncing back to 1 bar every now & again. I'll persist for now :D.

I dunno Opeth I just flashed it with Odin can't be bothered to wait for the branded rubbish Three throw at you there is enough bloat with Samsungs own ROMs let alone Three butchering it even more :p

Browser: We won't get the stock ICS browser officially on Samsung ROMs, I prefer Opera anyway.
Declining calls with a text message: Already available on GingerBread Samsung ROMs.
Data Management: Available on LPQ.
More App Space: I don't care, 2GB + Moving apps to SD card is fine for the vast majority.
Better Camera Software: Samsungs camera is better than stock Android's.
Action Bar: That's just an option in apps, so if an app wants to use it, yes.
Face Unlock: Working on LPQ.
Widget Previews: No idea, only use 2 widgets, and having a preview is hardly an important feature :p. This will depend on what launcher you use anyway I think.
Improved folders: The only difference is it shows you what apps are in the folder on the icon? TouchWiz shows the first 6 icons already, other launchers/folder apps have different implementations.
Live Effects: Shrug.

No one know yet if the UI will be more like the Nexus or more like the stock Gingerbread for the ICS update?

The UI is almost identical to Gingerbread. It's not even remotely as nice as the Nexus. :(

When someone finishes a proper skin for everything though it will be a lot better.

Hi I'm probably going to pick up a second hand GS2 in the near future. Did Samsung release a version with 32GB on board storage or are they all 16GB? I have seen some listed as such on ebay but I was unsure if It was a disingenuous listing based on the combined storage of the SD card.
Thanks.
