****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Samsung UK
Samsung UK can confirm that the roll out of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on Galaxy S II will be available from week commencing 19th March, however the availability of software upgrades in the UK will be dependent upon each network’s own software approvals process. ICS for GALAXY Note, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will follow soon.

Yea it is three branded, but what would happen if I tried to install official rom but from Samsung?

A recent conversation with a 3 representative told me I can get the rom from them or from Samsung.

Nothing would happen, You'd just lose all the Branding from Three.

You can only flash it with Odin at the moment though because it hasn't been released for the UK properly through Kies.

Well this ROM is annoying the hell out of me now. I've tried so much to get a signal.

I thought I just succeeded & had full bars for almost 2 minutes! Now I'm back to it not knowing what network it wants to be on & refuses to do anything at all :/

This modem is poo, Don't get how it can be like this when LPJ was 100% fine & that is from a leaked beta :/

Goose is the baseband exactly the same? I've had it before where I've restored but the baseband has kept from the last build i was using.

Have you tried a different modem yet? LPQ is fine for me :p.

You're right about CWM not restoring the modem, as that's the only thing (other than EFS) that it doesn't back up. It's unlikely to be that though, since the modem has nothing to do with wifi. May as well try a different kernel/modem anyway though, and a factory reset as well.

I don't know what modem to try :(

Might see how it goes with LPJ though.

What ROM are you guys using for the moment then? Still on Hydrogenics?

Yup 1.5 running well for me, pleased with aokp features and stock features for now. Will wait for some decent ICS custom roms before trying those out but once kernel sources are released aokp will only get better!

I think I'll root and go back to Hydrogenics. This stock ICS ROM I really don't think is as fast as it.

Cheers

Did you debloat it? Root using CF root and try to slim down system/app and also stop applications from auto starting either via autostarts or Gemini app manager.

Is the ICS update for Uk users next week via PC (kies) only?

Also I am using Go Launcher EX on GB at the moment. What launcher off the market will most resemble the ICS I have on my touchpad, for my SGS2. Having only used it on the Touchpad I don't know which UI elements are vanilla ICS and which are the CM9 launcher (Trebuchet).

For people who have used the stock GB and also used the leaked/korean version of ICS, which is faster?

Is this just a normal viewing angle issue? If you put your phone on a white background and tilt the device back, do you get a sort of blue tint on the display?

Cheers
