Yay, Another Tyre fred...

Not for me, gsd3 eagle f1s had superior dry performance in my experience, the assymetrics dont have thar edge so no reason to pick over the cs3s for me

Edit- not that either are a bad choice

What is so special about a full hunter on a car where it's likely that only the front toe can be adjusted?

Most garages' kit is capable of doing it - there is nothing special about the hunter stuff beyond the fact that you get a print out and it does some of the maths for you.

Someone intelligent can do it with nothing more than a ruler and a piece of string.

Fox is totally right that in an ideal world you'd get the geo re done each time you change the boots. As a total geo mentalist when I had the S2k you could feel and see significant movement in figures over the course of a few thousand miles, let alone the 10-15-20k miles between tyre changes !
 
Yes, you can do geo with string and rulers. Reality is that its not as accurate (my S2000 was lined up on all four corners to minutes of a degree, not within a degree) and to be honest, the hassle of doing that is not worth it when £90 quid gets it done properly on a machine. Christ, I'd imagine its cheaper if your happy with 'in spec'
 
And with a place with 4 hunter machines quite literally minutes from home, there is no real reason not to!

no one is doubting that, much like making a fag is possible from collecting fag ends from the highstreet and making a single roll up from the ash ... however, you don't see people flocking to do it as for a few quid they can just buy a pack.
 
I'm not suggesting he do his tracking with string, but "£100ish" for tracking is ridiculous and nothing short of daylight robbery.

I could understand if it was a car that was actually adjustable, but a Saab is surely only front toe adjustable?

A lot of places charge per adjustment, which makes a lot more sense!
 
I'm not sure what is and isn't adjustable on it. But considering how much money it saves in the long run, which is more than £100, then I actually think it's a good thing.

Surely you get the allignment checked - for free or £5 - and if it needs doing you have whatever needs doing done?

What would be the point in simply getting the 'tracking' done without bothering to check what is actually required first?
 
I get the alignment checked for free when I get my tyres done - you know the one where they hang those things off your tyres and point a laser at it. What additional stuff do you get for the £100 service?

Obviously it gets checked first to see if it needs adjusting.
Whats with 'tracking'? Its the same as 'alignment'.
