Australian Grand Prix 2012, Albert Park Circuit - Race 1/20

Sky is not as good as the BBC and the way that guy treated ross brawn omg..glad I never paid £30+ a race ;)

Good show from Mercedes, such a shame Rosberg couldn't get in a decent last run. All I'm praying for now is that Grosjean takes out Hamilton at the first corner, Button brakes to avoid and Schumie & Rosberg storm past to lead 1-2! Oh and both Red Bulls get a puncture on the debris :p

/fingers crossed :D

I am here :) one qualifying session gone and the crows are crowing :D My comments were based on what Gary Anderson said and with 1 weekend half over we have yet to see any real development of cars over a period of time, let's re-visit it later in the season and we can see who has developed and who hasn't :)

I tend not to post on race threads as it's like a mini-Autosport on here when the fair weather fans return ;)

Cant help but get the impression that the BBCs 'expert analyst' doesn't have much of a clue. He's done nothing but slate the McLaren since he laid eyes on it :D

Mr Men was adamant that Ferrari had it right and that McLaren would have to build a new chassis so they can use the stepped nose.

This thread is even funnier now. :D

He has been very quiet in the F1 threads over the last few days. ;)

All we need is a new Ferrari chassis to appear with a lower nose and he'll be spouting how innovative Ferrari are how McLaren are copying them. :D

That is one hilarious read. Armchair experts

Can't wait for quali highlights later :)

Australia often throws up some odd cars over or under performing. I hope this is the early pattern for the season but I think it will be different soon.

It will though be interesting to see if Vettel can turn that position around like so many of his peers had to last year.

It will be very interesting to see - it is exactly where I want Vettel to see what he can really do.

Put £20 down on Ham to win the title last night at 11/2, with £15 cashback.

Also threw £10 on MSC as the odds were 20/1 (because i'd saved with the cashback). Total outlay £15 :)

Going well so far, just hope the front wing f-duct isn't banned.

i get a bad feeling about grosjean beeing near the front, lets hope he stays calm and just tries to get around the first lap in one peace rather than going to flory and wrecking someones race

Loving it, Vettel suddenly looks average when he's no longer in a car 0.5sec faster than the rest of the field.

Webber will be strong again this season because Red Bull can't afford to slow his car down by a few tenths this year.

Rosberg made a bit of a mess of things.

Its very early days but the difference will be if Mclaren had the advantage RB had last year, Jenson and Lewis will take a lot of points from each other.

A half second gap to Mclaren would not be as drastic as a half second gap to Red Bull.

LOL Arknor I'm not surprised you have a bad feeling. Quote from the Barcelona testing thread

come melbourne if lotus finish in the top 6 ill not post in this section for a week

Sorry had to dig that out :D

Really a bit bummed about Kimi, on the basis of Grosjean... Shows the car has it still...

Quite amused by the Ferrari's, never liked Alonso, but feel a bit sorry for Massa as I've got a bit of a soft spot for him.

Oddly, I wish the RB were more competitive, seems like it might be Merc Vs. Mc this year... Saying that if Schumie can get a top three I'd be quite pleased..

Generally relatively pleased with that qualifying.. Has promise of what may be a good season.

So, McLaren 1-2, Red Bull struggling, but Webber in front of Vettel, Mercedes showing good pace, despite not really hooking up good laps in Q3, Ferrari nowhere, Alonso throwing toys everywhere, Massa showing what a useless **** he really is, Williams with some decent performance and some new guys coming to the fore. Plus the cars actually look like some skill is involved in driving them this year.

Carlsberg don't do F1 qualifying sessions, but if they did...

The only possible way it could have got better is if Caterham had managed to get into Q2 and mixed it up with the FIs.

Hurrah.
I've been saying that RBR will probably have the fastest car this year....I'm relieved to be wrong.
We shall also now get to see just how good Vettel actually is, as he mixes it up in traffic (ie. no time trialling).

A few days ago someone highlighted that the driver who wins the first race of the year, 75% of the time, will go on to win the title.

Somebody talked about placing bets on Hamilton to win the title. I think now is a good time to do this.

We must be cautious though because this is the first race of the year and things may change by the time we get to Europe. I still believe that Vettel will be in the title hunt (he is too good not to), but those days of time trialling...hopefully...will not be seen for a while.

Also, I know its just one qualifying session, but MSc out qualified Rosberg by a decent margin and Grosjean did pretty damn well.
