What film did you watch last night?

We Bought A Zoo

When i watched the trailer to this I had completely different expectations on what kind of film this would be so was pleasantly surprised as I watched through it. I thought it was going to be a film aimed at kids, whacky dad buys a house inside a zoo and the kids have many laughs etc but no, it wasn't like that at all, there were laughs and comical moments but the whole film has a deeper meaning and is about human connection above all else.

All the characters were superb and even Mr Mee's kids played strong roles with excellent performances.

Without Matt Damon as the father though I don't think this would have turned out so well, he has this thing about him that pulls through on screen and in such a role it worked out brilliantly.

I give this 8/10 as it is now in my top films of the year list.

The woman in black - I was expecting this to be tame but it was actually pretty chilling and at the worst moments terrifying! Me and my friend were curled up into balls in our seats towards the end :p

Great chilling ghost story, can't fault it at all apart from it felt like it was retreading on tried and tested ghost story ground. Nevertheless, very good and definitely worth seeing at the cinema. I don't think I could have enjoyed it any more :)

The Clash of the Titans

The sequels out soon isn't it? Been a lot of trailers for it on TV so thought I'd whack it's predecessor in and give it a watch. It's not that bad tbh (second time I've watched it all the way through)

7/10

War Of The Worlds (the later one with Tom Cruise).
Must have watched it ten times since it's release inc. twice in the cinema iirc!!

Good film.

I watched The Devil Inside day before yesterday. 2/10.

It started off okay. It's a "home made camera" type movie, so lots of shaking the camera around.

As soon as we got to the scenes after the daughters mother (who I thought was a brilliant actress) in the mental hospital, it went down hill from there. A lot of things seemed to be predictable.

The ending was ****. It ended with a possessed man driving a car. Subsequently he deliberately drove into an oncomming bus and killed everyone inside the cab. Yeh alright I didn't see that one comming!

Sorry for the crap review. Really not bothered to properly review a crap movie. Do not watch it.

It wasn't even worth a 2/10 to be honest. Dreadful, just dreadful. Gutted we wasted money on the cinema, cab there and back etc.

Film showtime was 21:30 so we arrive around that time. 45 minutes later the actual film starts, cinemas really do take the **** with all this these days. The film is on for only 75 minutes and it's 75 minutes of my life I will never get back. Atrocious !

-10/10 the director should be crucified !!

Super 8 - I think that had I been 14 it would have been my perfect film (if it had a few naked ladies in it). As it was I still enjoyed it but felt that it was trying a bit too hard to be a modern 80's adventure. 3/5

Watched 27 Jump Street at the cinema - Went in not really expecting much. I think it was probably one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time! Much funnier than I was expecting. Nice surprise :) 8/10

The horribly saccharine ending put me off, but otherwise I thought it was pretty good.

On the plus side, you have performed your duties as canary for me admirably :)

The Help - 8/10. Enjoyed it, seemed well written, well acted and believable, although I felt it could have had a stronger soundtrack. Can see why it was nominated for a number of Oscars though.

Also watched Hitchikers Guide to The Galaxy yesterday as it was on BBC2. I sincerely doubt I could ever get bored of this film. 9/10

Seven Pounds 7or8/10

Thoroughly enjoyed it, Will Smith is in my Top 5 favourite actors, just not entirely my kind of film.
