Spoilt for choice with riding locations this Sunday, really fancy taking my ht to Lee/Cragg quarry as it'll be bone dry and I've got some fast tyres on, or there's Wharncliffe for some uber tech :D or Cutgate but it might still be boggy.

The start of Spring is ace...

edit: CasKeiransys, did I read that you ride at Wharncliffe?

Road ride tomorrow and will attempt 50 miles for the first time and then probably Cannock on Sunday afternoon if I'm physically able.

I'm thinking of getting new wheels for the Blur. Currently running ZTR Olympics on Pro2 hubs. They are fine for everything apart from rocky descents or even high speed fireroad corners where they start to flex a lot.

I'm *ahem* around the weight limit for the rims. I would like something around the 350g mark without the weight limit.

The only rims I have seen so far are the Enve £700 jobs. I'm not a pro (despite what people though with my riding prowess at the last meet) so can't afford these.

I could sell the wheels to Ichabod for a DH build, so would consider a new wheelset over just the rims.

Any ideas?

I'm already resigned to the fact I need bigger than 160mm discs. I'm not sure the Blur could live with the extra 1/4 of a pound on top of that

It WILL get sub 22lbs, it WILL!!!!

No, I fall off at Wharncliffe. Last weekend was the first time I'd been there since the summer, and it was all new to me. I was rubbish, and kept coming off. :(

Edit: In all fairness though, last year I only did XC, this year I'm actually trying to push myself to do more. Failing miserably, but I'll keep trying. :p

Ahh cool. Don't hold your breath though, it would have needed a heat wave to have dried out from last week! :p They are having a dig day tomorrow though, so you'll have to look for the new parts. :)

I'll trust you my number, and send me a text if you go - If I manage to be off work, I'll nip over for a quick fall or two. I only live about a 10/15 minute bike ride away.

Went bike shopping today, found a really good bike shop too, in the next town over from here.

Not shopping for me, my girlfriend wanted a bike so she could come along too, work schedule means she's not been getting to the gym as much as she wants.

She wanted a Hybrid style bike as she's not going to ride the gnarrrr, more likely to ride around town, on some bike paths or gravelly tracks.

She had a look in town yesterday at bikes but found being a woman and not being 100% sure of what she wanted, she was treated like she was dumb, one place resorting to asking what colour she liked best.

Ended up buying a Specialised Crosstrail Sport Disc from a really good bike shop, they took the time to explain everything to her, put it on the turbo trainer and made sure the fit was right and really couldn't be more helpful.

It has a basic fork, with lockout which was quite important as we have a few hills here and she likes to stand up and pedal on those. Basic disc brakes, big improvement over her old bike which had 15 year old V brakes, not so powerful she will front flip over the bars though!

The components are OK, I had a ride around on it at home even though the frame is about 5" too small and it rides quite well. Can always upgrade the components at a later date if required or when they wear out.

Matching helmet and a pair of gloves, looks the part so no excuses now!

I like it!
