Exactly, the commentators were praising him for it, as if he was trying to out think the other drivers, but I feel he's just unable to make a decision by himself. Sure it worked out for him but it could easily have gone the other way. Nobody would have been praising his indecisiveness then.

Yeah. Without the SC the McLaren pit call was genius. With the SC it became unlucky. At no point was it a bad call though.

OED lists it as not used in the original italian and is strictly incorrect. But is in wide use.

I suppose it's like Americans. Color, humor, aluminum and so on.

As we are not currently using Italian then it is acceptable as a variant spelling.

I would consider its usage as uncultured but not incorrect.

I don't have a copy of the OED to hand. dictionary.com lists it as a simple variant.
