I was under the impression that the first series was branded as
A Song of Ice and Fire : A Game of thrones

Must be wrong then. As Pumpkinstew mentioned, I guess it gives them the ability to skip through " A feast for Crows" in near it's entirety, as it would make for a ****py season :D !

The reason they don't want A Song of Ice and Fire is that it sounds pure fantasy, which they reckon would put people off. Game of Thrones is a neat summary of what ASOIAF is about, and says political intrigue and backstabbing which has always been what HBO does the best.

Also pretty sure that they are using "A Game Of Thrones" as the brand name for all the merchansie. Think this was the case before the TV series was released as it's a more catchy title.

Please don't get this thread closed after three years by discussing future episodes that haven't aired in the uk as its against both the forum and this threads rules. There is a thread linked to in the first post to discuss the storyline of the books.

I Just said it was awesome, with no spoilers.

BIG WOOP!

I listened to a television reviewer absolutely pan what he's seen of Game of Thrones, labelling it 'absurd', 'unrealistic' and 'full of nudity and gore'...

It was only at the end of his review did he admit that he 'probably wasn't the target market as he hates anything remotely fantasy or medieval' .... :p

To those that have read the books, are there any epic battles to look forward too?

Also how are they going to overcome the fact the author of the books hasn't finished writing them yet?

In the books there are some decent battles but on a tv budget I wouldn't get your hopes up.

The author probably wont be finished by the time the tv show catches up. I would imagine that the next four seasons will cover the books released at the moment although the last two books will probably be covered in one season. That gives him 5 years to finish the final two which is unlikely but not impossible.

Yes there is two huge battles in this book.

They have 5 books to catch up with so even if they release a series every year you are giving the author 5 years to write the last 2 books. (which probably wont be enough because he takes ages)

A whole episode is dedicated to the battle outside Kings Landing and GRRM co-directed to make sure they got it right, makes me slightly hopeful.
