What film did you watch last night?

Thats the bit that I just don't get. There is nothing at all, ever in the history of mankind to even hint at there being an ark of the covenant that has mystical powers. The fact that it is mentioned in a religious text that has no proof of pretty much anything it claims lends zero credibility to the story.

That's not the point. The point is that the bible is part of popular culture in the west, whether you like it or not. It's a frame of reference. So the ark is considerably more plausible for people than aliens, whether they even believe in it or not.

There is way way way more likelihood of aliens existing than a 10th of the bible being related to reality. There are billions of planets with similar properties to our own that could sustain life and yet people claim that aliens in an Indiana Jones film is more far fetched than a box that contains face melting spirits that can only get you if you have your eyes open.

Without getting into religious debate, you're just arguing the existence of one unproven thing against one unprovable thing. That also no bearing on my point that the bible is a more respected and understood part of our culture than aliens.

EDIT: I've thought about this some more. South American alien pyramid rubbish = no dice. But if they had used American grey Roswell type aliens it could have worked... Because the latter is much more a part of our collective culture.

I couldn't sleep too well last night so ended up watching two late nighters on Sky:

Elektra Luxx - I really wish I hadn't, a 'comedy' about an ex porn star coping with real life. I kept watching because I thought there had to be some merit to it (it had a fairly good cast - Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Timothy Olyphant, Justin Kirk (Weeds), Julianne Moore), but it was just awful! - 2/10

The Loved Ones - Fairly derivative horror with some reasonable gore scenes. Trouble is that you could virtually name all the films that the director/scriptwriter had based each of the scenes on. - 5/10

Watched The Hunger Games, overall quite enjoyed it. There were a few bits which seemed a bit unnecessarily cheesey (especially near the end) that took away from the film, but it was still pretty good.

Blu-ray or DVD? Are you referring to the picture quality?

Was on DVD. The picture quality was terrible - just appeared as a really small box in the middle of the screen and had a random line down the left side of the screen the whole time.

Luckily it is such a fantastic film it didn't bother me too much :)

Fido - 7/10

One of the strangest Zombie films you will see! :)

Canadian comedy starring Billy Connolly and Carrie-Ann Moss, set in the 1950's after the zombie wars, idyllic communities are set up behind fences and use zombies with behavioural collars attached as pets/servants.

Spoof references to Lassie..

Fido : "Nnnggghhh"

Mother : "Whats that Fido, Timmys in trouble?"

Fido : "ughngghh"

Mother : "What, he's tied up and needs our help, quick we must go"

:D

"Pearl Harbor - Strength and Honor" fan edit. For those who haven't watched it, this is Michael Bay's film but with the love triangle dross completely removed. What is left then becomes a high octane, pure action flick. Horribly historically inaccurate but so much more exciting without the love story. Admittedly, removing the lovely Kate Beckinsale does have its down-side but, overall, it is a huge improvement.

I remember watching the fan edit of True Romance as laid out like Tarantino's original script. Made a great film much better. It also included an alternate ending. I recommend people check it out. It's out there.

American Pie: Reunion - 8.5/10. Brought me back and was a great laugh. May be higher when I see it in cinemas, We are the Champions kept playing at random times making the film inaudible and some scenes were skipped :(.
