Guild Wars 2

Sorry who was whining? I haven't seen any whine at all?

I'm sure nobody has any problem at all with what Anet are offering, people are just giving reasons why they will not jump aboard the purchase train just yet, unless your suggesting a discussion forum shouldn't be used for discussion?

Also stock issues on a digitally downloaded game?

Don't mind the fanboys. Throughout this thread its become pretty obvious there are a bunch of people who were fans of GW and aren't convinced by the massive change of style in GW2 and the fanboys jump on you because you're 'whining' about nothing

Whether this will be the case and ANet are limiting launch numbers based on server availability is yet to be seen.

Their Tweet stating they will sell Pre-Purchase till they are out of stock may of been tongue in cheek but it did not seem so. It COULD be taken to mean CE version but the original question aimed at them did not state this.

Was just looking around the GW2 site:

This is what I was after. PvP characters are what made the first game so great, no messing about having to level characters, getting the right gear (half of which you can't do without PvEing), long grinds etc.

It has the fun of games like the new generation of FPSs where you select your class, pick your loadout (skills) and go or LoL where you select a champion then you're on even footing with the other players. Whenever I PvPd in WoW, it was all grinding to get to a good place with your gear, then finding a team was impossible because it took no skill to get the gear and there's no other way of telling if someone's any good (apart from arena ratings and most good players already were in teams). Hopefully the rank system from the original GW is back. People didn't win much in HoH without skill so it was a really good judge of how good someone actually was. Anyone with a bear or above was garuanteed to have a decent knowledge of PvP.

Is this the same in GvG and WvWvW too? Always wondered why all the vids of these had max hp etc. So, basically the only time we have to worry about level and item grinding is for the main bit(story mode)?

Structured PvP is the 5v5 where you can "Hot Join", or play in more organised tournament style play. These are the smaller maps that will launch with a simple conquest mode; on these maps you will be set to max level with all your skills unlocked, basically a fully levelled character. WvW is the massive keep battles where you will also be set at max level; here, however, you won't have all the skills unlocked. Apparently you can get into WvW right from the tutorial and level up entirely in "The Mists".

Hey meep, when we get into the beta, wanna team up and kill some charr? ;)

Sure thing mate ^^ My name's MeepBeepWhirr again. I'll put up the numbers if we need them later.

I don't see the massive changes people keep talking about. It's set in an open world instead of instanced areas, that's a positive to me. I was always a PvPer in GW and the things that made it special were the limited skillset you had to decide on (which is still there for GW2) and the pre-made PvP characters (which is still there for GW2). The open world nature of the game is better than instanced IMO so that's only an improvement.

I assume so, I doubt it's just going to be like that for arenas (or whatever the GW2 equivalent is).

The thing that made GW such an awesome PvP game was that the PvP and PvE were seperate, different skill sets etc so ANet could balance them. Also the PvE grind wasn't there for PvP. It makes me very happy to see that again.

Thank u. well said.

I didnt like GW and the changes to open world have led me to paying for the GW2 CE.

I have no problem with prepaying. I dont want to miss out on the weekend betas so that is really what i am paying for early and not the released game.

Im the same as you, i didnt buy the CE tho, the mrs would kill me..

I never really got on with the instanced nature of GW1, it just felt like a single player game to me.

WvW is sorta pvpve so no pvp only charcters can enter I think.

Once I've made an account and everything, is there any way yet to start downloading and installing the game ready for the testing weekends?

betas wont use the same client, so youll need a new one/major update every time. doesnt make sense to have a build as a perm feature when it needs altering so much.

On the UK store? Or are you talking about importing?

Conjecture? Or is that what the devs have said?

i just figure it made more sense, forgot it was an mmo though, makes more sense for rolling updates unless they go crazy and add major things that break it.
