Guild Wars 2

Ah I am indeed wrong...

Standard Edition (Europe)—Customers will buy the Standard Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive their serial code. This is the only serial code customers will receive and will grant access to the Beta Weekend Events, three-day Headstart Access, the Hero's Band digital item, and full access to the final live game. Customers will not need to return to the retailer to receive another serial code.

I was talking about Pre-orders rather than Pre-purchase.

More like swtor/wow but also nothing like it, hard to explain.

They are trying to change how things are done, not like how many devs say they've revolutionised combat/mechanics but inevitably end up doing exactly the same as everyone else. They've definitely looked at the affect things have on an individual scale and worked from there.

Thanks :), might take the chance on it then

Anyone know where the client downloads too with the gw2.exe file? I know it's downloaded somewhere as I'm about 11gb less space than yesterday, but I can't see the files anywhere and when I rerun gw2.exe it just tries to download the whole client again.

Edit: Found it, ran it straight from the .zip so the files ended up in a temp directory in appdata :)

Going to have to download it again, that beta build can't just be updated apparently

I didnt like GW and the changes to open world have led me to paying for the GW2 CE.

I have no problem with prepaying. I dont want to miss out on the weekend betas so that is really what i am paying for early and not the released game.

i am thinking of not bothering pre purchasing or being in a beta. reason why is because, like the original gw1 game. i want to play the retail version straight on and just be wowed by it. if i play the beta, it will decrease some of the wow factor.

each to their own

I guess we can assume then the client which will install properly rather than just run from a folder will be the beta and final release installer.

I wonder if we can just pick up and drop the beta Gw2Stream.dat file into the install folder. Something to try when it get released. They are certainly going for a minimalistic folder structure like its predecessor.

Clarify that though, I bought from a local etailer and it's also a pre-PURCHASE that offers the same beta details as a direct digital copy.

mm I think the reason GW2 came out with that statement was that all the e-retailers were saying that pre-ordering from them gave you all the bonus i.e beta etc, so GW2 came out and said this is not the case and only copies bought from them counted toward beta.

Now I have not followed this much so this may very well have changed but I have not seen any post to indicate that it has.
