Coventry bang/shock wave

Heard it in Swindon too.

Was eating dinner and sounded like something had fallen over upstairs.

Makes more sense than an explosion. You hear sonic booms from military aircraft all over Eastern Europe some at low level which are ******* loud and shake the windows, but I think they're more relaxed about letting the military do Mach 1+ overland over there (plus no Ocean to do it over).

They are practicing to intercept a plane overland we had one over Cumbria a few months ago

Rang my parents precisely because of this. They live about 20 mile away and had been out checking the house and looking up and down the street to see what had happened, bless them :D
 
If it was an explosion or anything like it there would be news reports by now. Sonic boom is the most likely cause I guess.
 
Just had 6 fast movers (jets) fly over me a darn sight quicker than ever before the sound was deafening, never seen more than three in formation out this way (Bath/Bristol)

No booming though. :(
