New Samsung S23A700D 120Hz

does everyone have that scaling option in their catalyst panel? I've installed 12.3 and 12.4 and it isn't there at all.

Yep, i am on 12.3 and it is under the 'My digital flat panels' menu.

Edit: the scaling option is available using DVI and HDMI as i have just tried it and i am using DVI. :D

i would check for you if i had a monitor but i think the scaling option is only available if you are using hdmi not dvi. though i'm not 100% sure about this.sry

im using dual link dvi, let me see if using a hdmi cable would work. edit - no it does not show up. how strange.

I give up, it doesn't want to show it.

Anyway is there a way to get frame sequential working on these monitors? Whilst Side By Side is good, I some what feel I'm not getting the full 3D experience.

Picked one of these up at The Gadget Show yesterday. Fantastic bargain for £166.666666.

All set up last night and no dead pixels. The image quality is amazing and I played BF3 for a few minutes and it was like a different game.

I'm still playing around with the 3D at the moment as I was too knackered last night after two days at the show to do much of anything! I'm going to try a 3D Blu-ray tonight and see how that looks.

got my screen yesterday all setup and everything is running.

only problem I am having is getting 3D to work.

the tridef software with the monitor only appears to be for games but when i run it it doesn't do anything.

What software can I use to play films in 3D with the monitor?

Also i tried doing the Nvidia 3D vision emulator trik but it detects the 3dVision usb device but fails trying to install it?

Any 1 got any ideas how I can get 3D to work on this monitor. Not bothered how really.

I just want to be able to watch films in 3D not too fussed about the games.
I assume you already have 3D capable Blu-ray software. You need to get Nvidia 3D play and use the HDMI port. There is a 14 day free trial of this, then it costs around£25. I've used this on a GTX 570 going from mini HDMI port on the graphics card to HDMI on the monitor and it works fine. Before installing this, trying to use WinDVD Pro 11 in 3D mode just reduced the resolution to 720P but did not go into 3D mode.

I just read the T&C and FAQ on the samsung site. I thought I'd have to be VAT registered to get this cashback deal, but apparently not. So blimey, at £166, I'm seriously considering biting the bullet before the promo ends next month. Let me know what the 3D is like on movies. I wonder if it would compare in '3D'ness' to when I saw journey to the centre of the earth 3D at the cinema.

Bought this at the gadget show on Saturday and been toying with it to get frame sequential for 2 days, late last night I did it.
1. Uninstall all amd catalyst drivers and reboot
2. Install s23a700d monitor driver from Samsung website (I did digital)
3. Download and install Samsung game launcher
4. Download and install tridef and reboot (tommybhoy has links page 9 this thread)
5. Install gfx card display driver 12.4 beta and reboot
6. Go to Samsung game launcher and go to tools change manufacter to default monitor display and the change the next tab to 3d stereo 120hz
7. Launch game and turn the glasses on!

Sorry if explanation isn't spot on but I'm at work and going off memory.
Try it and let me know.

Mine arrived about 2 hours ago, as yet no dead / stuck pixels, and I have got the 3D working with some games, supreme commander 2. I'm really impressed with this monitor for £166 its a great buy and now my house mate wants one. However there was no invoice included in or on the box so I’ll be onto OcUK to sort that out. Great monitor over all with a really crisp and bright picture.

Thanks OcUK.

I am so tempted but wonder how much of a hit my GTX460 will get moving to this?

I currently game on a 1680x1050 22" Samsung BBW.

Will the res change knock a lot off my fps or the fact its 120hz??

you've already opened a thread about this here:

Ahh sorry, so many people posted and lost the vital information. I think it's because i got a bit of upgrade bug...and i do like the picture i get on my Samsung (1680x1050) but with it being such a good deal am thinking of grabbing one and getting VAT back.
Just if i do get it, don't want to then have to fork out for a graphics card too because that becomes double the cost and i'd be buying this TFT on a bit of a wim.

Is there a difference between using Nvidea? Am i losing out on 3D options that i would otherwise get with AMD??

Guys this Samsung Epic price ends tonight, seriously get them purchased, unbeatable deal with the VAT back. :)

I hope that works. Going to give it ago.
@Gibbo if I had Cross Fire I would have seriously considered another 2 of these. Had mine for a few months now and it's a gem. At the VAT back price it's truly a bargain.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh Pier pressure been muling over this for ages....obv if i get less than 60fps for those games 120hz aint going to make a difference is it?

Also the increase from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080 is around 20% more pixels...would this be the same fps loss so if BF3 gets 50fps would knock it down to about 40fps!?

Suppose i could knock off AA as guessing the tighter pixels would look similar by dropping AA.

Sorry Gibbo for all the questions on this TFT just money don't come easy as some folk who can buy gtx 680's. Just trying to determin if it would make my card poo it'self and would need a card upgrade.....thanks in advance :O)
