Buying brand new - Is it REALLY that bad?

That's not really 'depreciation on new is the same as on second hand' though, that's 'had a proper nail of a car and is now scared of second hand' :p
I wouldn't call it a nail, no. Merc stuff is expensive to replace.

Well regardless of whether you'd call it a nail, the point remains that mechanical repair costs are completely different and in no way does that mean the depreciation on a second hand car is the same as a new one as your original post said.

Well aren't you now bring defensive?

Answer the question, you call my car ****. At tell me you have a mclaren f1 or something. Don't say 10 year old mondeo....

Calm down before you embarrass yourself :p

No. It's irrelevant what I drive.

My opinion is that the A1 is hugely pointless. It's expensive when there are far better small cars available for less money and only mugs will buy a new one which lose thousands.

You obviously disagree and that's fair enough.

His Mondeo is a 2004 I think?

Correct but that was sold :)

He didn't call *your* car ****, he just said it was a pointless model.

Anyway.. it doesn't really matter if you drive a Veryron or a Trebant, you can still call something rubbish if it's rubbish ;)

I'm not really a fan of the A1 but I'm not so sure there are 'far better' small cars available. Arguably there are better ones but far better? The A1 isn't THAT bad!

Shame, it was nicer than an A1 :p Whats its replacement?

I'm sure they aren't THAT bad but for the price I'd be driving round in something with a bit of comfort and larger than a soap box derby car with bluetooth.

It's replacement is my Dad's MK1 Mondeo :p

Didn't need my own car at the time so it wasn't replaced.

I now need a diesel though and I'm currently shopping around. Thinking S60.

I think a 1.6 focus is a **** car, I've never driven one but it's my opinion so meh. Deal with it. :p

Nothing wrong with a Focus 1.6, it's an excellent all rounder.

I wouldnt buy one unless it was the last car on earth, but I don't confuse my personal taste with the fact a car is **** :p

How does the A1 actually compare to the Fiesta? You can tick every option on the 120ps Zetec-S and end up with a car that still comes in less than the base price of some trims on the A1. Are they really *that* well built?

I guess the residuals will help the A1's case but I guess that remains to be seen.

Stop being dumb.

The A1 is such a pointless car.
In your opinion it is.
The A1 is proving a very popular car for young professionals seeking class and quality.
The vast majority of people don't want a car that does 0-60 in 6 seconds with a rock hard ride.

Have you seen a Fiesta interior - my sons baby toys are made from better quality plastic, and also have fewer buttons ;)

It's just a slightly smaller version of the Focus you've just purchased

The Fiesta is an excellent car - class leading really. It wont appeal to the same people as the A1 though, so its fairly irrelevent.

Yeah I have, I think it's acceptable for the class of car. I'm asking how the Audi compares, is it really that good?
If you like plastic sprayed silver then it's amazing :p

Well sdk I think a normal a1 interior would be a better thing to post a picture off. Not the A1 Quattro with the 2.5 turbo engine in it - which isn't even released yet. Let me dig one out. :p
