Guild Wars 2

Lies what about the almighty self healing, damage taking, mending and healing breeze using Wammo.

Best build ever in RA ... also once I was in a dedicated GVG guild, and while the ladder was frozen we decided to run a team of 8 wammos for the fun of it ....

We won like 50% of our games, just zerging into the enemy base and killing the NPCs and guild lord, it was hilarious.

Same here, tho i'm not a great MMO player and Mesmer looks a little cluttered for noobness to comprehend.

Mesmers are awesome and they should be easier to play than thieves / engineers, but they probably have a higher learning curve.

I'll be making:

Human Elementalist (main)
Asura Mesmer
Charr Engineer
Norn Guardian
Sylvari Thief

That way I get to try out all the races and classes I'm interested in. First I wanted my Elementalist to be an Asura and my Mesmer a human for RP reasons, but I dont think I want my main class to be a little ugly crappy welp of an Asura :p

The Immortals will definitely be in Guild Wars 2. We have a large guild on SWTOR (although numbers have reduced quite a lot over the last month or 2 due to the game doing bad), and we already have quite a few members who are OcUKers.

Any OcUKer is more than welcome to go to http://mmo-guild.co.uk/ and join us. As far as I know we don't currently have a beta guild, but we will for sure if possible once the pre-purchase beta starts, and in the live game.

I've tried to sign up but the activation email hasn't arrived after 24 hours. I've tried to 'resend activation email' to no avail.

In the next beta weekend, I'm planning on testing out the Necromancer (my primary initial choice) and the Thief (my secondary initial choice) to see how I like them. If I dont like either of those then I will need to look again at the classes. I generally play as healers in MMOs, Necro appears to be the closest I can get to that in GW2

I will most likely start with one of the pet classes, then get disappointed that it doesnt come close to matching the abilities of my old Meta-Physicist from Anarchy Online.

After that is out of the way I will play just about any class.

Taking the plunge despite what i've said previously, but i've just watched a few videos on YouTube, and it's caught my interest, but £50 for an MMO i don't pay a monthly subscription for isn't a big deal to me if i don't end up playing it in the future.

There are no tanks in GW2. Judging from the community in the first game, and how the classes in the second one are going to be, if you go around typing 'Tank LFG', you'll only get mocked, laughed at / ignored even. Good luck finding groups!

No one wants a player in their group for GW / GW2 that stands around absorbing damage, it doesnt even work because the AI in GW was written to target whichever party member has either:

A) The lowest HP, or
B) The lowest armor.

Im sure that the AI in GW2 will be similarly written to completely disallow tanking / drawing agro from other party member mechanics. Even if it was possible to draw all the agro, it would still kill a warrior, the armor value differences are meaningless for tanking, compared to using the right skills (Earth elementalist = strongest damage reduction on yourself in the game, but even then you wont be a tank and will still die with too much agro).

The most useless method of playing in GW1 was by trying to be a tank, and it will be in GW2 as well. The only purpose that tanky builds served was for keeping yourself alive for the survivor title, and even then the best tank in GW1 was an Elementalist.

BTW I just got my copy of GW2 pre ordered for just £32.10 from Game using up all my reward points :)

It even said in stock, though I dont know if they are participating in the pre purchase early access stuff, but at that price I'm not bothered.

Thanks for that, I will be playing with friends anyway :) but yea, there goes my idea out the window (so used to tanking on other games, I guess its going to be different here).

Ah well, I will get a feel for it in the beta events and see what I end up playing.

I've got to the point where there are no more weapon/item rewards, and I see no point in going any further!

Hit 29 out of 30 yesterday. Just going to finish factions and farm up another 100k for an oppressor or tormented wep and then sit back and bask.. :p

50/50 is mental though. Serious commitment.

Can any race play any class?

Im getting my 50th point done currently, 9 more HM dungeons left to do, +60,000 reputation points to max out one of the eotn titles.

Im so fed up of the first game that Im just running around letting my heroes kill everything. I cant even be bothered to load my lazy AoE healing bar because it requires clicking buttons.

I might need to put in some effort for HM duncan though :(

I've re-installed the first game, but I just can't really be bothered to play it. I haven't touched it in 5 years (as I said before) so I'd have to re-learn everything and it's not really worth it with the new one coming out soon (at least beta). I'd love to get rank 9 but I'm about 900 fame away and relearning the game just to get something that won't affect GW2 is a bit much.

I've been watching some more videos and mesmers and necros are both looking more appealing now. The ranger seems great but that and the warrior both seem very traditional MMO classes (in as much as they can on GW2 when the combat system is so different).

50 Points thats insane. Although I guess if all you played was pve. Im only on 22 but I spent most of the time playing gvg years ago. Just lately reinstalled the game and trying to do the WiK quest to get a few extra points from getting a weapon and extra gold for armours.

50 points? Geez. I'm working on 30, been out of the game for a while. I'm doing the WiK quests, and currently on one where the boss just spawns a million mobs when I even look at him. All I want is to get to the repeatable EoTN ones so I can start farming. Fuu-
