What film did you watch last night?

Lockout.

Incredibly cliche, left half-way through the movie (this was probably due more to the fact that I had a fight with the missus though :p).

To be fair on another day I think I would have enjoyed it as a mindless action flick.

Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy last night. Was OK I suppose. Not in the league of Trainspotting, but it doesn't claim to be - although I suppose some comparisons are natural.

Script was decent, it was shot well and seemed relatively believable. The romantic scenes got a bit wishy-washy. At one point a character gushingly declares that "you're a goddess" to a love interest prompting me to tut and laugh sarcastically... the girlfriend leaned across and whispered "and you're a ****". I think I'm too cynical for movie romance now! :)

6/10

Classy :p

For those with an interest in Trainspotting and Irvine Welsh, his new book 'Skagboys' is now available - it is the prequel to the above and focusses on the early development and lives of the characters. :)

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy - Loved the look and feel of it, perfectly made me feel like I was there at the heart of it. Gary Oldman captured the role of Smiley absolutely, and while I felt a bit lost at times with regards to who's who, it all came together nicely. 9/10 from me.

Think I'll have to buy the books!

Watched Lord of the Rings, fellowship and two towers. Enjoyed both immensely as when i originally watched them on DVD i didnt think too highly of them but seeing as i got the trilogy on blu ray a week or so ago, im enjoying them much more. Think tonight ill watch return of the king to finish it off nicely.

Looking forward to the Hobbit, as i read the book on my kindle about a mth or so ago. Which reminds me i must get round to buying the LOTR books on my kindle at some point.

Blindness starring Julianne Moore, apparently it bombed upon release in 2008 taking less than 3.5 million dollars at the us box office, i thought it was really well done thoroughly enjoyed it a bit "creepy" in parts but would definately reccomend it

8.56/10 :)

Tonights viewing "The China Syndrome"

Lockout - 6/10

A disjointed film with questionable special effects, no suspense, and a completely unoriginal plot and character roster. However, it still manages to be entertaining & fun to watch, mainly due to a great performance from Pearce as the cocky and arrogant hero. Lots of tongue-in-cheek moments with good atmosphere and design, it's reminiscent of the “Die Hard” era of action movies.

Melancholia (hrmm not sure maybe 8/10...dont think i enjoyed it kindoff..hrmm)

Dont watch this if you are depressed :p

The Empress and the Warriors 5/10

Poorest Donnie Yen film i've seen :( Visuals and costumes and fight scenes were decent enough but very forgetable performances..

14 Blades 9.3/10

Best Donnie Yen film imo. Words cant do it justice. Will vs Skill ;)

The Awakening, quite good, spooky, ending could have been better though 7/10

'It', 1927, Clara Bow silent movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it, was reluctant when a friend put it on but it was very good actually. 8.5/10

K-Pax was probably the 2nd Kevin Spacey movie I saw after The Usual Suspects so my expectations were already quite high and rightly so. It was an amazing movie and spawned a debate among friends on what we thought happened at the end.

I saw Battleship the other day. It was completely predictable yet completely entertaining and visually stunning at the same time and I enjoyed watching this probably a bit more than the latest Transformers offering as well. I liked the fact that for once you get to see the aliens too but I had a few questions that were burning in my mind like

If Planet G was just like Earth then why were the aliens afraid of sunlight? Surely their evolutionary path would have been similar to us as evidenced by their physical form and since their planet would have been in the habitable zone then their parent Star’s power would have been similar to our Sun too!

Also, it seemed odd that their suits could withstand thousands of shell rounds but the windows on the bridge of their ship could not withstand some sniper bullets?
