#1 FPS GAME

MOHAA without a shadow of a doubt. Only Stalker has come close to beating that in my experience.
 
Wolfenstein (the original) was my first experience of an FPS so will always have a place in my heart. Doom/Doom 2 are definitely at the top of the list, along with Unreal Tournament and probably Counterstrike.

Of recent releases I would give a special mention to both L4D and L4D2 as well as CS:S.

Yes, the game has aged graphically but the point being, for its time, no other game since has offered the same innovations involving gameplay mechanics and story telling and pacing remotely comparable with the same impact Half Life had in its time.

No other FPS has given me the same feeling when firing it up, from the opening scenes, you are hooked and in the palm of their (Valves) hands.

pretty much this, could not have put it better. I still remember waiting for the post to arrive and just staring at screen shots for ages and it blew me away when it arrived. I find it hard to choose between this and the original Deus Ex
 
Half Life 2 - The atmosphere and the polish was beyond anything that came after it for a good few years. And having Aylx around wasn't too bad either :D
 
Half-life

The game that got me into gaming and still the best game I've ever played. The story, the action, the music it was all so immersive the first time I crawled through a vent and a head crab pounced on me I jumped in my chair. I have spent thousands of hours and euros on gaming because of this game. Epic.
