See! They do eat dogs!

Who cares, why are they any different from cows. They aren't pets.

What's sick is the conditions, not the fact they're food.

If they're pets, then I'm glad they've been released.

However if they're farmed then I don't see why people get so emotional. Cows aren't stupid and they have can have fun too.. nobody really cares about them.

Yup. Agree 100%, I know where my food comes from and I don't cry over daisy getting slaughtered for my steaks. They are bred for food, its not like someone's cherished family pet has been stolen to be served as dinner. Conditions are not right but then again the Chinese aren't known for their humane treatment of anything.

People don't complain about people eating rabbit when they are also pets, so why is it the case for dogs?
If you look at it objectively, there aren't any reasons why we don't eat them. It's just fade out of tradition and is therefore "disgusting". I can bet that it's not disgusting for most Chinese people.

I almost tried dog when I was in China. Just couldn't quite bring myself to do it. I think the problem for me is that in China they treat the animals like garbage - so you know the critter you're about to munch had a miserable life. I can just about block that from my mind with the usual cows, pigs, chickens, etc.....but in the case of dogs I couldn't accept it.

As dogs are more intelligent animals and show human-esque emotions, I tend to care for them more and value their lives higher than cows. Really, this is just an extension of the principle than humans should be valued higher than other animals.

Cows have fun too.
Here's some cows happy to be back in the fields.

Pigs are very intelligent too... I've been told on a par with dugs.

I've eaten dog well over 100 times, it's pretty much like beef, generally a bit tougher. Not amazing but an interesting flavour. One time a man drove by with a cage of dogs on the back of his pickup. I bought one that I judged to be of good temperament (14kg, £8.90) and kept her as a pet. Lovely dog!
