iRacing

Eyefinity - WOW!!!, it's a bit cobbled together at the moment as I've got to have the middle monitor pulled forward for the cables but even so the sense of speed and being able to see the car move around that you just don't get on one monitor.:-)

Got the buttkicker today, set it up on telemetry works well gives abit more immersion, but its all at default setting now I'm gunna really mess with it later...

What monitors did you get for the side screens? This iRacing is costing me a fortune:p

Had a few races over the last few nights since renewing my sub after a long break. I forgot how easily the cars become damaged. It's very frustrating to have your car made almost undrivable within the first few corners through no fault of your own. Even starting from the back doesn't always mean you miss the idiots who try and overtake in any corner.

And the cycle begins again on OCUK in the iRacing thread :)

The Sim gets soo much bad rep from those who have never and have no intention of ever playing it but the reality is, the majority of those who do play it, think it is awesome.

Lol so true...

Been messing with this buttkicker last night, I love having it on so you feel the vibrations when flat out/or pedal flat to the floor then come off throttle it stops or gets weaker then get back on the power you get the feeling again, gives more immersion to racing I still need to mess with a few settings on the telemetry tho...

Barmy you just need to get out of rookie races, just start from pits whatever it takes...

I know I need to get out of rookie races, but I also need a lot more track time before I move up the ranks. I've only got about 25 hours of time with this game and most of that is in the Mazda at Okayama. I wouldn't want to be the one getting in the way of other drivers in higher classes. I'll just try and get in as many hours as my free time and patience allows.

That's a fair point mate, however the rookie races are bad and you will do well to stay out of the way as there's loads of idiots, in the higher license races there's abit more respect to other drivers...

Just got promoted to a C license :D

now i really do have to buy some content  which is the best to buy skip barber series ? this is going to get expensive

If you're C Class then get yourself the Radical :)

But really it depends what cars you like driving, do you want high downforce? single seaters? tin-tops?

The Skippy is a great car, and can teach a lot, but there's no downforce at all (wings are just for show) so it moves around a lot and with a very rearward weight balance it's very tricky on the brakes into corners, great fun but not for everyone. Mentioned it before but if you're seriously considering the skippy then try the Spec Racer Ford, they handle similarly enough to give you an idea as to whether you'd like the skippy :)

I'm really struggling to work out whether the caddy is fundamentally broken, missing something critical in the setup, or just plain evil. :p

How did you manage that, I thought the promotions happened at the start of the new season (after week 13)?

There are two ways to get promoted:

Old School: (real members had to do everything this way, 'in my day' etc :p)
Complete MPR + SR > 3.0 + Wait till the end of the season

New Fangled Way:
Complete MPR + SR > 4.0 = Insta-Promotion
