The thing I've learnt in the beta was that everything is so easy that if you're trying to move around, run, dodge skills, pick up healtglobes you would just do more harm than good, the easiest way to go through is just smash things with whatvever skill does most aoe damage and not worry about anything.

I wouldn't advise you making a hardcore char. Your not going to get far after normal like that. :o

Well I did give you the good weapons :D

:p

So that means 2 weeks of thinking up characters names? The only 1 I know for certain is my Witch Doctor and I'm very tempted to call my Monk 'Fish', other than that I haven't a clue ><

It's not going to be TingTang is it? :p

I've already got a few ideas.. Otherwise I'll just use the **** ones I used in the beta. Plenty of thinking time yet!

Not really. With the way the mechanics work, the only item that had any influence on your power was your primary weapon. A strong primary weapon made a world of difference at that stage in the game. The rest of your gear was pretty much irrelevant.

Rings make a massive difference, though, admittedly, they aren't drops yet. Orbs / Dolls / Quivers are pretty big boosts too though.

Primary stat whoring will make a big difference to damage. Not so much at beta levels though.

Even at beta levels, hitting 90 - 100 of a primary stat is totally achievable, for 90 - 100% more damage.

Awesome image from Diablofans -- armor sets for each class per tier.

Course, but thats my fem WD. Which means I have 1 name out of 10 (if I make male/female versions of each... though possibly not much point in that just yet) and possibly a second.

I refuse to name my barbarian either Conan or HeMan :p

Yeah thats what I mean. The single biggest difference to your characters ability in the beta was your weapon. Armour value and the enemies damage was so low for the most part that it made no difference. And you couldn't really expect to find or create enough gear with primary stats to have any real impact on your damage without already killing the SK and grinding in other playthroughs.

I think my highest dps was about 27 with lv10 DH and 24 with lv11 WZ. Without my armour there really wouldn't have been much change in my survivability.

Who really cares what the nutjobs on diablo fan sites managed to achieve?

I was obviously speaking about normal difficulty ;-).
With the right build and items it's probably going to work just fine.

Regarding gear, people say it's irrelevant but with proper setup you could get +50 of ur main stat - say int, in the beta, using low lvl items.

That's pretty much level 3-10gear only and that's +50% damage ;-).
Whoever says that 50% damage is not a noticeable increase obviously didnt pay attention to numbers.

I suspect mine will be mostly bad puns. :p

Suspect I'll go 5/5 male/female and 5/5 normal/hardcore like most people and end with two of each eventually.

Meh, dunno if I'll bother with hardcore. Don't like the idea that it only ever takes 1 bad lag spike and its game over.

My monk in beta atm has 51.5 dps at lvl 11.

To give some perspective, without the two rings he is using he has 30.6.

Hmm, now that I think about the rings did give a small amount of hard damage didn't they. Something like 2-4 wasn't it? Which makes a fair difference when your weapons do something like 3-12. Course theres no way of knowing if they would be anywhere near as beneficial later on.

Speaking of character names, will it be possible for others to see your character names in mulitplayer? From what I saw only my BattleTag was displayed in-game.

I think thats a little open to interpretation.

Some builds will obviously work better than others because of synergies between skills. Some will work better against certain enemies or have fewer weaknesses in a certain area. Some will be better without much stat investment some will be a little weak without strong gear. And yeah, as Co-op goes, if you play regularly with the same people the chances are you will work into roles, with 2 or 3 of you sacrificing some of your defences for stronger offence and some of you doing the opposite and focusing more on defensive/crowd control skills.

You can't just chuck 6 skills onto a bar and expect to do well obviously.
