Crysis 3 official, release date is 2013

No idea why people are saying stuff along the lines of 'if it's a console port, I won't bother'. It's EA, it will be a console port whether you like it or not as the majority of the money to be made is on the consoles.
 
Yeah but CR2 was a flop on console and PC and that was a port of massive proportions on PC, maybe a change of tactic from crytek this time as they got big stick for CR2. They may go out and make the PC version the greatest looking thing ever and relive some of them original crysis days, cryengine 3 is certainly capable of some amazing things. Let's hope crytek don't sellout PC again as it did them no favors in sales or popularity with CR2.
 
Well i've just read through this Crysis 3 interview and I have to agree with the comments below, especially this one:

None of this fills me with hope.

"Are you going to launch Crysis 3 with four graphics settings"?

-"We don't know"

"Will you do a DX11, or HD texture pack for Crysis 3"?

-"Maybe"?

"I’m wondering if you regret that at all, and if Crysis 3 will have quick-time events".

-"We want stupid people to buy it too" (Paraphrased)

In the first answer he makes it sound like most of it is corridor shooting too. The only reason I'm interested in Crysis 3 now is too see how badly it's going to flop.

We'll see how it pans out. To me it's more of a 'can't wait to see how bad this is going to turn out' instead of 'i'm looking forward to this game' kind of scenario.

From the video, it looks no different from Crysis 2.
You'd be kidding yourself to think they've "learnt".
 
I have been playing around with full free cryengine3 sdk from crydev website. It is imo amazing game engine.

It's a shame cryengine 3 potential will never be truely realised as focus has switched from pc to console gaming for crytek.

If cryengine3 was to be fully utilised to make a crysis1 like game with full focus on PC, I can confidently say it will be the most amazing looking game ever with richness in every feature implemented from tesselation, vegetation, environment to lightning etc.

Consoles don't do justice to cryengine3 :(
 
This all boils down to one truth in my opinion

"Crytek are great at making game engines, bad at making games"

And thier track record speaks for itself.

Farcry 1
Amazing graphics, great gameplay for first 2/3 against humans, ruined by stupid mutants in the final third

Crysis 1
Amazing graphics, great gameplay for first 2/3 against humans, great set pieces, ruined by stupid frost aliens in the final third

Crysis 2 (I never played - based on what I have read)
Good graphics, good gameplay, great set pieces, very linear, ruined by stupid aliens all the way through

Crysis 3
Good graphics......

I think they would do better to Licence thier game engine to other developers in the same way the Epic do with the UT engine

Hey guys sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but got my i7 2700k (at stock), GTX 680, 16gb RAM today and Crysis 1 runs at 40-50 fps :confused: Is this normal as people say I should be able to play BF3 maxed out at over 60fps when obviously that looks quite a bit better than Crysis?
 
I haven't played any of the crysis games, but Crysis Maximum Edition is on the way. :) I'm quite looking forward to it. Personally, in the trailer and screenshots, I think the graphics in Crysis 3 look pretty good.

I loved the Aliens. I actually didn't rate the first half of the game before the Aliens showed up.

But the big alien anti-grav complex and the stuff afterwards was awesome.
 
Crysis always was a bad shooter even against humans, they have far too much health as do you....and the guns are really bad.

if you want a good old fashioned shooter you need something like Vegas or Vegas 2....
 
aliens are ****, you need an AI that shouts and swears at you to give the game true atmosphere..... i do not know why Crytec persisted with aliens, because this ruined the first game, yet they carried on with this.

this is totally dumb arse ! ... how ****ing thick is this... nobody likes Aliens yet they carried on with it
