Crysis 3 official, release date is 2013

Why do people hate the aliens so badly?
I thought the extra element of it not being "run of the mil" aliens to be good.

I enjoyed the turn of events but floating through that alien ship thing was completely boring. It just seemed to take forever, plus I didn't have any ammo left which made it impossible. :o

Crysis was a PITA to get up and running back when I was running a 8800 GTS, then I upgraded to a 5870 and I thought Crysis was excellent. The graphics were nothing short of amazing...

Got Crysis 2 and felt it was a bit of a downward step until I got the DX11 texture pack etc...

Excellent game I felt, single play wise in any case. The game even ran ok ish on my laptop which was a big surprise as the 5650 GPU didn't fare too well with Crysis yet managed Crysis 2 at 1280 x 720 ok enough to be playable.

Overall, Crysis 1 and 2 are good games, if you like single player good looking fps, the only other game which I've been 'wow' with was Metro 2033....

Anyhow, once I get my Samsung with its 6970M I'll be happy as I can play Metro 2033 and Crysis 2 again..

I think the setting of a jungle new york is a bit 'I am legend' or that new naughty dog game 'last of us' is it type of setting, see how it works out.

the setting of new york for crysis 2 was excellent IMO, the graphics when cranked up were nothing short of amazing compared to many games released to date..

I've always looked at Crysis as not online fps, but great single player story driven fps with good graphics.. Much like Metro 2033 and the new up and coming Metro last light, another fps which Im looking forward to..

Some more info.

While we are waiting for the first proper gameplay trailer of Crysis 3, both Crytek’s CEO and the Principal R&D Graphics Programmer at Crytek have decided to share some new information about it. First and foremost, Crysis 3 is said to be a spiritual successor in gameplay to Crysis 1 instead of Crysis 2. This is actually good, as there is a promise for more open-ended environments. After all, Crysis was all about freedom and the ability to go wherever you wished. So yeah, this sounds promising, although Cevat has always a way to bend the truth.
Moreover, Cevat admitted that Crysis 3 would look better on the PC. Well, that was a given, right? We expect to see higher resolution textures, as well as DX11 features from the start. Crytek has been advertising all those DX11 features so we can expect Crysis 3 to look great and take advantage of the more advanced lighting system that was introduced with its latest SDK version.
On the other hand, Tiago Sousa has revealed that the PC version will support all kinds of Anti-Aliasing methods. As Tiago said, PC will have Crytek’s new ‘SMAA with all modes (T2x on consoles )+ Nvidia new TXAA + all MSAA modes +something new‘.
Sousa has also revealed that Crytek is looking into more DX11 features:

“Extra new AA mode in research. About new DX11 tech, we have a lot going on, but can’t speak about it yet.”

This sounds really promising, as the PC version won’t be an afterthought this time around.
Last but not least, Tiago said that the available AA quality modes, for the PC, will be 1x,t2x,2x,4x. According to Tiago, the T2X method uses reprojection+ weighting, and as a result of that, there won’t be any “ghosting” at 30hz. PC version will also support a combo of 2x,4x with MSAA.
Crytek will release the first gameplay trailer of Crysis 3 on April 24th. Until then, you can enjoy the following video that showcases the different AA methods.

I did enjoy Crysis 2, I'm just dubious about claims about giving the PC version any extra effort. Bear in mind that they said much the same sort of stuff with the lad up to Crysis 2, that the PC version would be the primary version, etc. But the pressures of development led them to abandoning those claims.

i never played the 2nd game, i read too many bad posts, this 3rd game looks the same...

DOOM 4 should be next year so i'm deffo not interested in Crysis 2

Hard to tell much from that trailer, looks like some of the same C.E.L.L weapons are back again, also looked like he did a running punch at one point. Pinger also making a return from the looks of things.

Compact jungle lol

No sign of crysis-like open world environment. Plus given the fact that you will be playing in a 'sphere' containing seven different environment types, you can forget about experiencing sandbox shooter

Yeah so no true sandbox gameplay like the original games, think linear shallow gamplay again.

Crysis1 > Crysis2/3 is like comparing Battlefield 2 > Battlefield3 :p

Both successors have nothing on their predecessors, though there is experience of more modern gameplay in newer games expected after 5/6 years anyway.

So successors are more modern high tech shooters but lack depth.

EA and Crytek showed off a playable title that, since the series debut with Crysis in 2007, has matured in character and grown in design complexity, has deepened with layers of options and gameplay styles, and continues a path of innovation. It's a tech-driven game, but one that consistently scores high with hardcore gamers. Here's hoping the game remains as important as the tech that's driving it.

kotaku = BS

Meh, just give them the benefit of the doubt, theres a good chance theyve learned from crysis 2. Gonna wait to see what impressions are of the final game before buying. :)
