Regardless of his personal merits, his success with Fulham and relatively successful season this year with West Brom I can see this being similar to the Liverpool situation, he's not the first choice of the media or the Eng-tards and unless the team suddenly looks great, which it won't as they are a bit rubbish, the fans are going to be on his back from Day 1.

Oh god, he is 64, stress and strain of England job should go to a younger manager, he has not won anything since the 80s

If he goes I hope he only goes to the Euro, then they get in someone for the future.

As the old saying goes, you can't make a chicken salad out of chicken **** so I fear the management position is largely irrelevant where success is concerned.

I find it hard enough watching England play as it is but this could be the final straw. Putting everything that happened at Liverpool to one side, Hodgson still shouldn't be anywhere near a job the size of and with the expectations of the England job.

A lot of people love to hate Redknapp (I'm hardly a fan myself) but he's a far better manager than Hodgson. Everybody is talking about Spurs recent form but if you offered any Spurs fan 4th with a few games to go at the start of the season, each and everyone of them would have taken it. For Spurs to finish 4th this season would arguably be a greater achievement that when they finished 4th two seasons ago.

i would imagine that cost is definately a big factor in this following what that idiot Capello stole from them, but the statement only says that he is the only one that they have approached so far - it doesnt say that he is their top or only planned target.

Got to be cost. It will cost the FA a lot to get Spurs to release Harry from his contract, whereas Roy is out of contract at the end of the season.

True but we have some great young players coming through and the last of the golden generation going for one last chance, we need tactics and a team that can play, fast quick football.

Build the team around Hart and 3 at the back with 2 wing backs. We have Rooney but he gets in an England shirt and bottles it, Christ we had Heskey at the world cup HESKEY

I can only hope its just for the Euros, I dont know what manager would want to take over now with Euros 2 months away.

Probably the best choice.

Agreed, what Arry has done to Spurs since the turn of the year proves his tactical inadequacies which would only get shown up even more at International level. Woy on the other hand at least has experience at a European level and bar a dodgy spell at Liverpool did wonders for Fulham and now WBA

If the FA are determined to give it to an Englishman then Hodgson is the only option tbh (unless they go with a young inexperience manager)

The media love in with regards to Redknapp seems to have died down since Spurs have started dropping points. i couldn't understand why the media were so keen on Redknapp and Hodson has international experience, seems i was wrong n thinking that the FA would do as they were told by the media and as i said seems the sensible appointment to me.
