Is the fee only taken *IF* the item is sold/bought? or it's taken regardless if no one wants it?
Seems a bit steep but we don't really know how in-demand some of the items will be...
I'm quite looking forward to the crafting aspect, and achieving the stats you'd like. This shows how much content they're lining up for inferno:

All the unique and most of the rare crafts will occur at level 10 BS, inferno.
You know it says magic items available 13 for first level of normal. There has to be more than 13 magic items, is that percentage or what? is that per user. I saw more than 13 magic items in the open beta for example.![]()

I just hope they make items rare enough, as without any ladder resets the market's going to be saturated eventually.
Also I can't help but feel that way more people will be interested in selling than buying items. What motivation is there to get uber gear as fast as possible when the primary aim of the game is PVE? There's no PVP at all yet, and I can't see any other long term goal than earning your gear, other than achievement whoring.
You're only charged a transaction fee if your item sells.

Blizzard said:How is the transaction fee determined?
A nominal fixed transaction fee will be deducted from the seller for each item listed in the auction house. This fee consists of a fixed charge to list the item, which is assessed whether or not the item is successfully sold, and an additional fixed charge that is assessed only if the item is sold.
Because the listing portion of the fee is charged even if the item doesn’t sell, it will be in the seller’s interest to list items he or she believes other players will be interested in, and to do so at a competitive price. Specific details related to the transaction fee for the currency-based auction house will vary by region and will be announced at a later date.
Please note that we plan to waive the listing portion of the fee for a limited number of transactions per account. In other words, for these transactions, the seller will only pay a transaction fee if the item is successfully sold, and that fee will not include the listing charge. We’ll have further details on this as well at a later date.
Quite right, I should have clarified.Apparently only on a few listings, if you go over the amount you start getting charged for listing items, of course it could all change when it's launched
here is the FAQ from Blizzard
Just don't cash out your money to the battle.net accountI wonder how many people will accidentally do this and then realise they can't use it anymore except for Blizzard products.
Am fairly sure they'll be hoping a lot of people do that, and Customer Services won't allow changes!
