***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Well in my eyes one s cant be compared to s3 which willconpete with one x.. bigger screen and res will also reduce the battery life :O we'll see id be very happy if it had good battery life not that my s2 ever caused me any problems..

True, but it may be able to give some competition regarding the processor area ;) :p, no idea about the GS 3 CPU, I know it will be good and next gen etc. but no idea how it will compete to krait, maybe sarge or/and kona can give some more detail and their thoughts on this?

And possibly the camera for overall quality and features (not video recording quality though), but I am pretty sure that the GS 3 will be better in the camera/photo quality area too, maybe not by an awful lot though this time.......

If it has the 12MP Xperia camera there won't be much in it. I suspect this may be the case unless there's another one they are likely to use.

Contracts are evil in every way. Gonna buy this phone if it's great as soon has I can afford a sim free version and bang my GiffGaff sim in it.

I would like to do this too, but when topping up with o2 I get a discount on my o2 broadband. Would I still get the discount if I used GiffGaff?

I noticed that you can use an o2 sim with GiffGaff because o2 own it.

Why does it matter if I own a one S?

The one s has the best battery life out of the box for android devices except the rzr obviously, so not think it is good to compare the 2?

Also do you not think a 4.8" 720P SAMOLED+ screen is going to drain a lot of power especially when compared to the one s screen?

Of course the processor will also play a big part in the battery life as we have seen with the XL (which uses the same CPU as the S) compared to the X but I can't see it making a huge amount of difference between the S and GS 3, like what some may think....... I reckon the GS 3 will get an additional 30-60 minutes (60 max) of on screen time compared to the one s at 40% brightness, so in total about 4hours 30-45minutes of on screen time with ease and pushing it about 5 hours of on screen time.

Of course I could be completely wrong but it is fun to guess! :p :D

So I'm bored and did some checking for a laugh:

So the One S has the S4 chip, 4.3" OLED and a 1650mAh battery, the One X AT&T has the S4 chip, 4.7" LCD and an 1800mAh battery...

That's 9.5% or so (just under actually) bigger battery.

According to Engadget's review, which arguably isn't the most thorough but should be comparable at least, the One S managed 'just over 8.5 hours' and the One X AT&T lasted 8 hours and 55 minutes.

This is a 5% or so improvement.

So not really much in it as far as screen goes, although OLED Vs LCD kinda depends how many blacks were displayed (it's a video iirc, not sure what though)...

Although the One S/XL Does have a more efficient chip and at 28nm (assuming Exynos 4412, which is 32nm and A9 cores) but I wouldn't be surprised if there's much in it...

Good luck with that! Mines been up for the best part of a week and has had no interest!

I will lose some dosh on it if it means selling, but the GS3 will have to be something special as the One X is a sweet phone, I just hope they don't ruin it with touchwiz as that can't compete with the new sense ui its great(i am a sense hater normally).

argh, come on 7pm. i wanna see some pics/details :)

i traded my SGS2 in the other month for an iphone 4s and got 200 quid off the asking price....

wonder what they'll give me off this handset for my iphone 4s?
