ParcelMonkey Woes! Lost £400 Monitor

Was it the original packaging that was used to send the monitor?

If so was there pictures or words on the Dell box to the effect that it was a monitor inside it? If so surely the driver should know his own company t&c's and therefore should have refused to uplift the item or at least warned you about sending monitors?

I always read the T&C's with couriers. I'm also probably one of the few who fully read a contract & T&C's before signing anythign financial too.

Bit of a shame this one but looks like your loss unfortunately, unless it does eventually turn up.

yep sent in original box. thinking about it now may have been wise wrapping it in brown paper so you couldnt tell what was inside it.

i hate companys T&Cs, this one has basically put every item you would send through the mail on their list, so if they lose or damage anything they're not liable. i had the same thing happen 3years back, i had to send a graphics card back to ****** (never again!), after testing the graphics card and writing back to me that its faulty and they will send me a new one, a few days later they told me they lost it... after like 3weeks they finally sent me a new one, and a load of vouchers to say sorry.

good luck though :)

Parcel2go?

Cheers, bookmarked. Their list is pretty amusing...

'Filth' is prohibited...depends on your point of view I suppose :D

Nope, their list of no compensation items is even longer!

I was going to use them once for a monitor I sold on Ebay but luckily spotted the exclusion list.

Also, other items like a Mcc Book Pro is limited to maximum compensation of £100. I mean seriously?

The following items (or any item similar in description or content) can only be carried on a no compensation basis on any service.

You have a further complication here because you are dealing with Parcel Monkey, who are not actually a courier, just an agent. They are what's known in the industry as a web reseller, they don't own any vans or depots they just sell the services of a courier to the end user (you)

Remember the courier industry is largely unregulated in the UK, unlike the postal industry.

If you do not get any joy from ParcelMonkey from complaining/writing/etc then you will have to take them to court and prove that they or the courier they used to carry out the delivery) was negligent. Be warned, you shouldn't assume this will go in your favour.

If there is no followup, and you don't hear where the parcel went, then I guess your next step is to report stolen property, and allow the police to follow the chain of supply until they find who nicked it.

Does that mean if you send a laptop via courier they won't cover that either given that it has a monitor.

I guess the lesson here is to make sure you specify an item which isn't on their exclusion list.

Well I’m going to post the letter tomorrow kindly written by Daniel and Halk. If i do not get a reply within two weeks, will report it to the police.

Also thinking of posting my experience on every popular forum i can access, leave reviews on every review site and email bunch news/internet sites, and then send parcelmonkey links to these.

Also emailed Dom from that rip-off show on BBC! :D
