***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I predict 4.3inch phones will be king again in the future. I just can't see the mainstream buying the X and S3 like they did with the S2 and Sensation. I'm not the only one, I've found out somebody at work has also swapped there X for an S because of the size.

It's just a strange phase where everyone is in awe of HD displays on a phone to watch movies and browse the web. Give it time and people will realise 4.3inch was good enough and compact enough to be comfortable. I'm not just saying this because I have a One S, I genuinely believe this is what will happen. 4.7inch screens will not be mainstream sellers.

Is it chrome effect or the real deal?

Based on what we've seen thus far from Samsung's 32nm LP process in Apple's iPad 2,4 (review forthcoming), Exynos 4 Quad should be a pretty good step forward in the power department as well.

Good news, hopefully the smaller dual core version will pop up (with the quad core note?) soon.

Quite a few reviewers have commented on preferring the feel of the S3 now, one such vs One X preview:

Definitely a case of needing to hold the S3 before making brash statements about the look and feel of it :p

He must be mad, glossy backs are terrible in the real world. Still at least you'll be able to change it. :p

Benchmarks seem to be all over the place at the minute. Any idea why that is?

Some sites showing the XL/S having better scores and then others showing that the GS 3 better than the S/XL

The bezel? It's shiny plastic ala iPhone 3G.

I think some people are a bit caught up in the hype still and might be over praising it a bit as they're so excited.

@Johnnytoxic

You aren't the only one! Have seen quite a few people on XDA etc. who had the X and brought it back for the S instead as it was just too big for them to use comfortably.

I'd have to agree really, handling the One X isn't the easiest thing in the world. Women and people with small hands will find it a bit cumbersome. The Gnex is slightly easier, but not much.

I think mrk hit the nail on the head.
I personally like the look of this device but i am dissappointed that they didnt go with the Samoled+ from the tab 7.7.
I am going to sell my note in the very near future and replace it with either the 7.7 or's its successor.
On a different note, why cant we buy and sell phones in the MM?

I smell One S fans about this hizouse ¬_¬

:p

Oh I wouldn't go that far ahead of yourself though. These are people whose jobs are to review phones remember so they've seen it all.

Or maybe Samsung have truly succeeded in creating "samsung religion" after all this hype, marketing, fancy show (put together awfully though :o :p) and have brainwashed people and are now the new apple........... (not quite as big yet though :p)

:p

True, but it doesn't mean they are entirely objective and could be a bit biased.

I'm looking forward to trying one out, it's just a shame the screen is actually a step back from the Galaxy Nexus though (despite it being a tiny step), madness.

I also want to see what the camera can do if people think it's going to be something really impressive.

As for the screen, I think most people would consider the One X screen to be better, so it's not all that clear cut. :)

Weird statement - what on earth would make you think that?
Comparing my GS2 to my girlies one x side by side we're both in agreement the GS2's is far richer and less washed out in terms of colour representation (though text is marginally sharper on the One X if you put your eyes really close to the screen).
Assume the S3's screen won't be worse than the 2...?

What evidence is there that it's a step back other than a few ppi down? Intratech has already said that the screen on the S3 is tweaked above the GN.

Both screens are good in their own ways, comes down to personal preference. Overall I would say the X screen is better than AMOLED based screens.

And it isn't a weird statement considering pretty much every review has stated that the X has the best screen to date and a few, which say it makes the galaxy nexus look pretty poor in comparison.

Intratech also said the screen would be "SAMOLED+" :p

The only thing better are the black levels, it's not just my opinion either, most places would agree the X screen is the best out there. It appears less washed out because largely, the colours are over saturated on the GS2.

Marginally sharper? Are you being serious? It's a LOT sharper. Big, big difference.

Also, the S3 screen is a bit of a step backwards in that regard, yes. The colours (I think?) won't be as good as it's pentile and not rgb. People have pointed out this difference between the Nexus and GS2 before.

No, he said it's tweaked differently, not better.

The only people expressing their opinions in here are those that are justifying their HTC or Galaxy Nexus purchases, or at least it seems so. There isn't that many actual opinions yet because the device isn't out, simple.

Looks like I'm getting one since I make a profit on my S II ;)

Not really, almost everyone has expressed an opinion of some sort.

There's no new technology in the S3, especially when it comes to the screen, so it's easy for people to discuss that.

The least most of us expected was an improved camera and something which doesn't look so fugly. I guess the back is easily fixable by getting a 3rd party backing cover but the front? Why not go with Black too, give people 3 options at least.

Looks wise it really does look like a mash up of the iPhone 3G and the Galaxy S2, I can't say I'm a huge fan, it feels like a step backwards from the Nexus and the SGS2.

well the camera is improved? just because it has the same amount of megapixels doesn't mean its the same.. the sensor is completely different and has some new features :)
