Just trying to bump my rating to get a C class, I decided to do an experiment.

I did a Mazda Cup race around LRP, I started from the pits and drove 90% pace all the way average lap time 1 minute, 1 incident - Finished 4th only 8 seconds from the lead.

I popped in the fastest lap of 58.7 with 2 to go, just to make a point.

Interesting that by taking it a bit easier, not trying to get the very last tenth each lap, I actually performed very well. Next race I'll notch it up a little, again starting from the pits and I reckon I can fight for 1st.

That said I did 'spectate' two battles, at one point I had them both but it was too risky so I dropped back and waited a few laps for them to crash out. Pretty much the same thing further up, another two smashed each other off. I lost quite a bit watching and waiting, it was actually quite off putting following them.

give it time mate, its so much fun when you click with it.

if you have only done 2 sessions in the rad and at watkins and your doing 1.06's then your doing great..

the radical dosent need much steering input...

Cheers, you're right it's unsuspecting how little input it needs, also the braking points are much later than expected. I need to do some longer runs and once I can do 20 laps without a fight I'll do a few TT's and then I'm ready for races, but that's probably a week off... and then the track changes, hah! :)

woah just made a massive mistake of using a new setup that i just downloaded and then going into my first radical race. held to together but lapped about a second slower than my already slow 1.07's. have to say that this seems like the series for me. very very clean and less of a inner 'click'. managed 8th from 16th start but got more points than when ive won in the past. iracing points calculation is a strange thing

im loving this every body is racing the radical...

bleek racing wont be a problem as long as you stick to you racing line peeps can get past easy...

stu just sent you a friends request.

any body else add me s peace.

what setup did you get stu???

Doh, just realised I'm still on baseline setup.

I'll nab one from the official forum and do some more testing tomorrow, but really need to do 4 more races in Mazda so I can advance my license.

baseline set is 1 of mine its a 26 rear wing so a good half a sec to 1 sec off the pace, were all running 17 rear wings...

4 more races to build you SR up???

I'm currently at 3.55 so 3-4 solid results will get me over 4.

ah right yeah, so your at D class now???

just took 2nd again in the radical, was fighting for the lead but i made a move to over take p1 on the outside of the carousel and p1 went wide and pushed me out off track i saved it and was in 3rd so had to fight back to 2nd but p1 span on last turn so i got by anyway...

Hmm not going acording to plan at this end ,, my rookie level is dropping not increasing,, spending far to much time in the pits after getting tangled up with other people ^^
each time i have a crash i find myself spending like 2-3 mins in the pits ,, what with getting towed , refuled and tyres then repairs
is there a way to turnj of refueling and tyre changiing , as atm i just seem to be able to tick the tyre box and not untick it,, also can you skip that and just repair and hit the road again ?
also is it better to qualify > race if possible rather than just racing

dont you get a free repair in rookie races???

yeah you should be able to uncheck the boxes for tyres and fuel..

id just start from the pits and let all the muppets go about there business, let them go by you anything just to get out of the rookies...

Press F4 and F5 and untick the boxes. That will stop the refuel and tyre change. In Rookie series your first repair is free, so if you unticked those boxes then you can just drive off after the tow.

I can't wait to do my first race in the radical, but I'll wait for the children to do some activity otherwise I get interrupted.

As graveyard said, in Rookie series just start from the pits. I was pleasantly surprised with the clean driving in the D class series when I got outof the rookie series, except anything that includes the mazda as a lot of people want to stick with the mazda so there is a higher percentage of new drivers involved.

Il do some races today starting just from the pits ( so that means skip qualifying i take it ) .
i am able to press f4 and f5 ok to open up fuel / tyre windows and am able to tick the boxes for the tyres,, but i am UNABLE to UNTICK them ( i thinks i might have unbound a key poss ?? ) as for the fuel i can increase and decrease ti ok,, but the problem is it seems to be AUTO SET to put in fuel at every pitstop, so once i crash and am getting towed i must remember to open up fuel window and reduce the ammount taken ( But cannot untick that box as well ).
Whats the default key for unticking a box

Cheers guys :)

Have you tried using your mouse to untick if nothing else works? If you come in for a second time they will be ticked again. I usually untick them all just after I grid at the start of the race.

Edit: Default key for tick/untick should be space bar and you can cycle through the tyres with up and down arrow keys.

Yep!

I've been a member since the start, 4-5 years, and yet I still didn't realise to progress you had to do 4 official sessions in your current class! :o

I was happy driving around in the Mazda Cup but that's not D!

If you still want to run the Mazda (cup car) why don't you do the Grand Touring Cup (D series)? The racing generally is much cleaner than the Mazda cup so should be good for SR. Also you will get to do a few more courses just to keep the interest going.
