If you could skip right to the end of the game on the next highest difficulty, would you really want to?

More likely than not you would get your *** handed to you :p

You start from the beginning when you go to the next difficulty up.

edit: orderoftheflame made my reply redundant, i've really got to type faster...

You would also be very dead :p

Its the only way to make a levelling/difficulty curve.

Thats not what Im asking jesus guy's whats with the hostility? It was an honest question from a person whose not had the pleasure of playing a diablo game throughly before. Sigh think ill just google my answers instead or better yet wait for the game.

Cool, think I'll go with pre-ordering from a shop so I know I can pick it up on the day :)

Such a shame, there used to be a little independant place in Lakesside where you could get new releases a day or two early!
Was so excited when I went to pre-order SFIV and came away with the collectors edition two days before it was released!!

Sorry, i digress.....

i belive shopto shipped out pre-orders a day or two earlier than actual release.

a friend of mine has pre-ordered a lot of new games from them and ive always wondered how he got them before release date :)

It was an honest and candid answer, sorry you wanted it tarted up.

I don't think anyone's being hostile?

I'm not exactly sure what you're question is if it's not already been answered. :)

My question was when you progress from normal to the harder difficulties does the game just restart from the beginning of the story from the first play through. Or can you choose which dungeons/content to grind albeit on the harder difficulty?

Yes the game will restart on the next highest difficulty, you keep your character and such though. Gotta do all the quests again, though typical with Diablo games they will make it a lot harder the higher up you go.

The highest difficulty Inferno is only meant to be played at level 60 as the mobs are level 61.

basicly, yes it just gets "harder" you keep all your gear, skills etc up to that point. then the story starts again.

From what I can tell from the vids I've watched, even though the quests and I assume bosses will be the same, the dungeons will be different every time too.
So even though it's 'starting again', it'll still be different. Re-playability built in :)

Ah I see.

You start over again. Once you get to the way point of an area, you can return at any time by teleporting from the town, but starting a new difficulty you lose your waypoint progression.

You'd probably want to do it in order anyway, as when you hit the end of normal, you'll be ready for the start of nightmare. Even if you wanted to start halfway though the next difficulty you'd be under levelled and find it near impossible.

The difficulties are aimed at steadily progressing your character. Iirc, it's something like:

Normal 1-30, Nightmare 31-50, Hell 51-60. Then inferno is the super hard tip level, where you shouldn't even bother until you're 60 and have the best gear you can get your hands on in Hell difficulty.

Flabbergasted at how many haven't played Diablo before..

Grab yourself D2 for cheap and it will tide you over until D3. You get use to the terribad graphics and it's an amazing game.

If they brought out Diablo 2 enhanced edition, I'm sure fans would have gladly waited a few more years for D3. But I'm ecstatic it's going to be out next week!

I was going to download d2 and try it but I found out that its max resolution is 800x600. I just could not install it. This is probably why i do not have much memory of diablo games.

Talking about difficulty, the way i understood it works. Was that when you finish the first difficultly you do not have to start the story again. That it was a continuation of the story. Am I wrong?

So I have the season pass for WoW, but I also decided to purchase the Collectors Edition

I've not got much time for WoW at the minute, well, more gaming in general. I can't wait for this.

That was mentioned in one of the recent Jay Wilson interviews.

Basically said he likes the idea, but doing it would mean taking people off of making new content, patches and features for D3, which is out of the question for the forseable future. :(

Having Diablo 1 be available on Battle.net would make me happy for now. :o

Same, the 800x600 just put me right off.

You shouldn't let it. :o

I started again with a skellymancer earlier in the week and I've having a blast. Put normal Baal down yesterday and got stuck into Act 1 of nightmare this morning. It's still a better game than most the AAA guff coming out today, regardless of the graphics. :)

Yeah the dungeons, crypts and basements will all be randomly generated when you enter a game.

but the towns and all that should be static.
