****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

Could someone help me out here.

Why on earth can Pokemon not use the same Internet connection my 3ds does, you have to set up a separate one but it doesn't support my routers password type? Do they want me to use a worse password type just to play Pokemon online?

Which Pokemon game are you taking about?

Which Pokemon? I have White and it uses my 3DS's network settings just fine.

Edit: I'm half right. The DSi does support WPA so ds games released after the release of the DSi have a better chance of working with WPA. Maybe there is an list online somewhere showing ds games supporting WPA. As the rest of the comments ask, which version of Pokemon are you using?

The DS didn't support WPA. The 3ds does. No ds game can use a WPA connection, even when using a 3ds. I have no idea why Nintendo did it like this, it's like the game accesses the hardware directly rather than interact with the OS layer: I guess this is how consoles used to work before they had proper operating systems.

There's nothing you can do to fix it. Nintendo's workaround is for you to purchase the Nintendo usb wireless stick which requires a powered up Internet connected pc as a proxy.

This is wrong, my 3DS uses a WPA2 password and I can use wifi using my Pokemon White game using that connection.

Actually that does ring a bell. Do you have an older game to see if they all work?
I was sure I've tried to do this and couldn't get it to work. I'll try to find a source for my above comment!

I've editted my post above, games after the release of the DSi may work on WPA2. This list is the best I can find of DSi-enhanced DS games.

I'm playing pokemon heart gold.

So WEP is unsafe going by that thread and they want us to continue to use it? Couldn't they put both access types on the games?

Mario Tennis and Heroes of Ruin are high on my list in the next few months.

As a side note, anyone used their stars to get anything from the Club Nintendo? Ordered two packs of Kid Icarus cards and the DS Game and Watch game on the 4th April, got the email same day to say the orders had been received for my stars. Nothing arrived as yet but I assume it's a long lead time on them actually sending anything?

Just to let people know I believe this is the first time Nintendo has patched a game! Mario Kart 7 has a free patch available as a download from the E shop. It apparently KOs the shortcuts which blighted this online.

2 More games got dated.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star (Nov. 11) – Nintendo’s classic Paper Mario franchise gets a fresh 3D look in its hand-held debut. Stickers are the backbone of Mario’s newest adventure in which players use stickers found in the game to not only win battles, but to solve puzzles as well.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (Oct. 28) – Experienced fans and newcomers to the Professor Layton series can solve dozens of fascinating puzzles as they work their way through a new mystery storyline. Players can even download one additional puzzle per day for 365 days, starting on game launch day, at no additional charge.*
