***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

XDA peeps have fixed the details so videos are sharper but they can't (and won't be able to) fix the metering problem whereby the hardware itself is the cause. It has never been fixed by HTC or any custom ROM or mod on any HTC device to date and I can't ever imagine it being fixed on any future phone either because HTC don't really care.

No, but the metering isn't all that bad, it's the bitrate being low causing the juddering that's the problem.

Ultimately it will look more or less the same as the rest when being viewed on the phone itself and that's the only place I'd look at it. It doesn't excuse it though. Very odd.

Play :)

I am expecting an early dispatch!

But I envision a late one, with me sitting by the letterbox, rocking back and forth....

The fact that I will be able to walk into a store and pick mine up, come home and do a video unboxing and review was what made me order from CPW.

Just so happens that I won't be working on the 30th as well. Everything lined up perfectly.

The metering is average, it's not bad like the HTC Desire series of phones but it's nowhere near as smooth as realtime like Samsung/Sony Ericsson phones. It's bad because it's supposed to be competing in all areas with those makers, not just some!

It's also bad to people like myself because when we do record videos it's for a good reason and the videos are going to be uploaded some a specific job so a good quality video free from errors is most ideal! In that regard the S2 has done a fine job so far and it seems the S3 will outdo the S2 quite comfortably in that area as well, especially at 1080p.

Compare the One X videos with the S2/S3, you can see the almost Powerpoint like transition steps as metering adjusts from light to dark and vice versa. It just looks weak compared to Samsung/Sony cameras.

I don't get lag on my S2 either.

I'll porbably upgrade to one when my current contract runs out but just been disapointed by the specs and design so far. Where's teh 12mp camera that was supposed to feature for example, the 2GB of RAM? At least the 720p screen made it.

Yes casing is subjective but why make the thing blue????? I don't want the white iClone so it means my only choice is the tacky blue then, who made the stupid decision that black wasn't good enough anymore?

I think they're trying to prevent further lawsuits by apple.
I agree it's ugly blue, but maybe they left us with the ability to change the faceplate (They DEFINITELY left us the ability to change the back :p)

Guys looking at changing my order of my s3 to CPW so I can just go and pick it up during my lunch hour on the 30th.

Does anyone know when they charge you for your order? Is it now or is it when its shipped?

Looking at the Mofi pouch reviews, it looks similar to the one I got above, except the inside if white. So just a girly then :L

So anyway, who's getting a 64 GB MicroSDxC card seeing as Samsung are the only manufacturer to natively support exFAT file system with their own kernel module?

I shall be getting a 64GB SD card for all (not literally all) my music and media. I'll probably stick with 32GB version of the phone, no need for 64GB worth of apps. It will be a HUGE step up from my 500MB internal storage, where I'm constantly having to decide which app is MORE important! :p

I'm not disputing any of that. It's quite strange that HTC have managed to finally do a decent job with the camera yet they've seemingly ignored the video recording.

Having said that, the transitions are quite a bit smoother than on their old phones, not far behind the Galaxy S 2 when viewed side by side on the phone, there's not all that much difference really. But you'd expect improvements rather than seeing it struggle to compete with a year old phone!

Internal app storage will likely be 2GB anyway same as it is in the S2. No problems there.

The two things that could sell me on this are the blue model actually looking good when I hold it and the battery life being extremely good. 30%+ better than the One X.

Aside from that I'll try to resist. :p

Resistance is futile!

Ordered! Took ages to decide between the blue and white before going for the blue, then find that buymobilephones.net only have the blue! Oh well...

Upgrading from an S1 that has been slow and rebooting over the last few weeks. It's almost as though it knows it will be replaced soon!
