Read the original post before climbing on your high horse. Huge story spoilers let loose on the Internet. I think most people would rather avoid them.

We've used spoiler threads here for years to discuss story things separately thanks.

This is a forum to discuss diablo 3 if you dont want to know anything about the game then why not just stay out of the thread.

Better yet why dont you make the diablo 3 spoilers thread if its irking you so much in the first place ?

Im not on a high horse Im just sick of seeing you moaning every 4 or 5 posts in this thread about spoilers when the spoiler tags are atm used correctly.

Give over. I was warning people about huge story spoilers being posted on the net.

It's the Diablo 3 discussion thread, not the ruin the ******* story for everyone thread. We've had story/spoiler threads for as long as I can remember on the forum. Why should people that want to discuss the game but not have it spoiled for them be driven out, rather than the way it's always been done here?

Other people seem happy with the not having the game spoiled for them like that, why's it such an issue to you how we do it?

You mean the one post I made today about it, followed by the few posts I had with Aeleys over a misunderstanding which was sorted out, then the few the other day? All you've done is get irked over by people, even those trying to help you out from what I can see.

Ooo just bought this through Battle.net and downloading the client now.....this has been on my radar for a while, but not looked into it......never played 1 or 2...so will be totally new experience for moi.

Well I had another look and it says Melee Attackers, not only that but to get the highest level gem, it'd take a ridiculous amount of time anyway.

Decided to pre-purchase so I can play on Monday and then I might just overwrite the copy with the CE and sell on the code they give back to me. Or I'll just sell the CE, but I want to see how those wings look before I do. :p

As far as I know... The gems on the D3 site game guide are out of date. :o The site only mentions stats for Helms and weapons and we know that more stuff will be socket-able than that.

Last I heard, (and that may have completely flipped by now :p) the gems will be for stats (dex, str, int) rather than specific things like crit and damage.

Got an email at 6 to say my order has been dispatched from GAME, yay =)

My apologies. I just said out loud some words towards you that would offend you deeply if you heard them.

I think we in this thread share the sentiment that you're a lucky SOB though XD

Well there are 4 gem types aren't there? Which ties in nicely to the 4 stats. Obviously that means boosts to armour, dodge chance, resistances and health through stat boosts. Question is though, what do they do in other pieces of armour? Is it all the same regardless? Different values? Or do some smaller pieces (like rings/amulets) do something a bit more unique like crit chance.

I don't think rings and amulets will be socket-able will they? I don't remember ever seeing one that could be in D2?

If the forum wanted seperate threads then there would be no spoiler tag option. Or can you explain another reason why said tag is available in all threads ?

Not to mention how much information have you looked at on the game allready ? To sit there and claim its going to ruin the experience for yourself when you have more then likely been following the game for a long time seems stupid to me.

Btw GG you can use find users previous posts.

A question for those in the know:

My boss has calculated that with Gems and traits and minions, that he can use the 'Spikes' passive effect to dish out literally 10s - 100s of thousands of damage. Arguably that's not till lower level, but all of his pets (witch doctor) would benefit from the effect and would gain ridiculous amounts of health. The gems on the official site show +1800 damage with spikes (multiplied by damage modifiers from skills/traits) - how is this going to work? In PVP or even in-game, he'll be able to sit back as his pets deal ridiculous amounts of damage and heal for massive amounts too. I wouldn't be able to hit him or even do a single AoE without taking something like 100k damage.

Is he correct? I'm sure Blizzard would nerf it very quickly, but at the moment there doesn't seem to be a reason to play any other class than Witch Doctor other than for different kinds of attacks/abilities - the Witch Doctor is basically Godmode.

It's hard to say since no one really knows, i'm doubtful that he has calculated it right and took everything into consideration (resistances, armour etc etc) and WD's wont be "godmode" at all you can bet on that. there will be no better off single classes, they are all pretty well balanced (if the beta is anything to go by)

in a team who knows, the best combo will win 9 times out of ten, not sure if you have looked at the pvp footage that was out but it seems like things work a little different in pvp.

Google-fu skills will show you plenty of story spoilers :P

Yes...but i was referring to Blizzard directly, not people who have ruined it for themselves or others ;)

You clearly have no clue as to what constitutes a spoiler...

Knowing there is a barbarian and that he has a skill called whirlwind isn't a spoiler. Knowing what the story is is quite a different matter entirely.

Got my Diablo 3 sitting on my hdd ready to go on tuesday night at 11.00 uk time, got it free with the Blizzard Annual pass.

Roll on Tuesday night :)

Guys this has probably been asked loads already but.. I have the hard copy on pre order from Tesco, is it worth me doing some sort of pre-load so all I need to do is enter the CD key or something?

That's your call, i didn't bother as you have to wait for the game to open, and there will be an initial update anyway.

you'll save all of about 20 minutes and if you don't get it as soon as the gates open then there is not much point :p

I remember seing a gameplay video for this years ago and thought it looked good, so been checking out any progress on a yearly basis lol

Can't believe it's finally coming out!

Got my pre order from Tesco, hope it arrives on Tuesday.

Below is something you may consider a spoiler...if you haven't played the previous games and don't know how to connect the dots :P.

I wasn't :P. Still, what is there to spoil? The silhouette of Diablo is a give away to how he gets back when you consider the parents of one of the characters. The recent clip posted by Blizzard also hinted at what's going to happen in game (and it's not like it's unprecedented - remember Izual?). Lastly, the story is fairly simple - Azmodan and Belial want a piece of Diablo's cake, but as the case always is with such aspirations, get outplayed which allows the LoT do what he always planned to do - conquer the High Heavens. Enter heroes to stop his nefarious plan, kill hordes of monsters and earn insurmountable treasures in the process.
Blizzard have told us clearly not to expect sudden twists in the story. The premise is simple - go in, stop the bad guy, get loot. End of story. Sure, the details of the story remain obscured but even without them we can pretty much guess the ending (hint: no Diablo game had a truly happy ending).
All this I got from a bunch of screen shots posted by Blizzard, the story told so far in D1/D2 and the animated short.
